    Cons

    1. Bad Paymasters - Salary way too low as per industry standards
    2. Ambiguous HR policies.
    3. Too many redundant processes and overheads. Simple work takes eternity to get done due to bureaucracy

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Reduce bureaucracy
    2. Increase salary of employees and reduce outrageously high salaries of higher management.

    Pros

Fun Place to work. Some BU's have excellent managers while others have mean people full of BS. Depends on where u land.

    Cons

CEO Ashok Vemuri said in one of the interviews that he wants to build a company that can last for 100 years. That's it.
But no real efforts were put in place to standardize the appraisal process, pay attention to banding gaps, retention policy not changed ( though IGATE recently got award for innovative retention policies). There are some offices e.g. Chennai IGATE where promotions are given without checking the capability and in Mumbai/Pune offices even capable resources have to struggle for it and ultimately they get frustrated and leave. The same incompetent resources from Chennai then become project managers/program managers/ associate directors and then start screwing up projects/programs and clients relationships.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just taking over Patni is not enough, you have to bridge the gaps - in thinking, appraisal process, remove bias. Try to retain senior people as they are the key link between customers. HR policy needs to be changed as they agree to pay more to laterals instead of tried and tested internal resources.

    Pros

Has big clients and has good opportunities for Indians. If you are lucky, this company can make your life. Processes are very good

    Cons

Highly unstable top management. One location in India has pathetic top management. Not good for girls in that location either. No action taken against managers if complained in that location.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at IGATE full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Exposure to Fortune 500 companies. Increases professional experience.

    Cons

Inability of company to recognize good talent and place it accordingly. Supervisors and managers lack experience and core knowledge of positions they were supervising. Salary does not commensurate with experience. They should allow for those with more experience to earn more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Place the proper talent in the correct positions. Do not place people with out experience in supervisory roles. It leads those being supervised disgruntled. Allow flexibility in salary. You have to have the ability to pay those with more experience a higher salary. That's the only way to retain talented employees.
