    * Great work-life balance

    Cons

    * Still some resistance to collaborating across workgroups, but this "my turf" attitude is improving rapidly

    Pros

Incredible content powers thought leadership across many capital intensive industries. Harnessing this breadth is a rewarding challenge, albeit a challenge.

    Cons

Still lacking the infrastructure or will to enable budget management at lower levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the investments in future flagship products, even when margins are challenged.

I worked at IHS as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Worked in small autonomous team, great training considering I was there a short time, good work-life balance.

    Cons

Little interaction with other teams, compensation for interns is not great.

I have been working at IHS

    Pros

Huge range of industries and range of opportunities

    Cons

Hard to leave such a great company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Benefits are very good but salaries dont reflect individual country regions. For example a UK salary differs significantly from south east to other regions but this isnt reflected sufficiently

I worked at IHS full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Becoming more people and process driven as core functions get professionalized afterten yrs of rapid growth.

Fascinating content. Plenty of smart and decent people.

Lots of room for new ideas, though little financial support to invest in them. The company is cost focused and the most successful people are people who are able to manage costs. Not a company where yiu shoukd expect your leaders to be visionaires, great product people, stellar marketers etc. Cfo-led.

    Cons

    See above.
For asia office, quite us-centric. That includes the best and worst of what that means.
    Plenty of mediocre people too.
Tier 2 or 3 company. Good stepping stone. Leaders are not the same quality as simikar people who I have firsthand experience with from top public companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you are smart get out while the stock is high. If you look at the fundamentals I cant see growth sustaining itself. A lot of smoke and mirrors. Synergies from multiple acquisitions often are only theoretical.

I have been working at IHS full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Exciting place and growing fast. Lots of training and opportuities. Very rewarding to see IHS outpacing all its competitors as we build something unique. Reasonable work-life balance with some home working allowed.

    Cons

High growth rate gives growing pains so if you want a quite time then its probably not the best place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great leadership from the top. Sometimes messages can get watered down as they go down the organisation.

I have been working at IHS full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Very high growth expectations both organically and by acquisition mean that things are always changing. New products, markets and the integration of new companies is the norm and this creates big opportunities for people and also challenges to overcome. Resources are applied rapidly and fast. If things are not working rapid changes are made. Strong sales and customer focus. Company rewards everyone with IHS shares with more and more of your reward being in shares as you progress up the company. This gets people aligned in the same direction. Good working at home policies, time off for sustainability events and a caring environment for employees.

    Cons

Company is 8000 plus people and listed on the NYSE so internally it has to have more approval processes than typically the much smaller owner-run companies it often acquires. This can make some transitions for people tough, as any change is. In fact one thing you can be assured of in IHS is change and rapid change so if you want to work in a static low growth company then IHS would not be for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing, keep trusting your people and try to not get sucked too much into the NYSE focus on quarterly results.

CEO Scott Keys is a true inspiration to the whole company as are many of the other senior leaders.

    Great internship experience

I have been working at IHS as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Very interesting work. They give interns real work, and the learning curve is quite steep. Interns will pick up very useful skills and general knowledge.

    Cons

Pay is on the lower side, and sitting in a cubicle all day is tough sometimes. The work is sometimes a bit monotonous as well.
