    Pros

    Great professors and highly talented Grad students. Generally, work hours are flexible. Great place to do research.

    Cons

    Poor stipend for interns (Rs. 4000 per month) in my case. They do not provide accommodation to interns.

    Pros

    Good exposure since various departments are present all in one place. Scientists are very helpful and supportive. This is the best place to carry out research.

    Cons

    Nothing much. all the departments are far away be ready to walk unless u know to ride cycles :)

    Pros

    - A chance to work on come cutting edge research
    - Great facilities, especially in nanoscience and engineering (CeNSE)
    - Knowledgeable faculty
    - Easy to collaborate with other research groups in India and abroad

    Cons

    - Plenty of bureaucracy, procuring necessary lab equipment can take ages
    - Culture is very dependent on the group lead
    - Collaborating with other researchers can be frustrating at times if they don't move as fast you'd like

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More freedom to research groups in ordering lab equipment that does not involve going through all the red tape.

    Pros

    Lot of intellectual freedom. Great professors and highly talented students. This is the best place to do research in India. Work hours depend on your lab - a few advisors are strict about lab timings, most are not.

    Cons

    Sometimes your choice of research problems can get constrained by lab funding situation. Poor stipend. Masters' students receive Rs. 8000 per month and PhD students get Rs. 18000.

    I have been working at IISC

    Pros

    The institute provides a fertile environment for research. It is filled with lush green trees and beautiful plants.The professors encourage independent work and are easily available for seeking guidance.

    Cons

    The stipend provided is barely enough for managing living expenses.

    The management should give attention to employment opportunities for students by simplifying the recruitment process for companies.
