I have been working at IJM full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Solid mission with good leadership at the top. Good opportunities to grow in your career doing life changing work. Great benefits.

    Cons

Organization can be a bit rigid tough to change. Staff sometimes fear failure and will go over board in making sure everything is setup perfectly before moving forward on a project.

I worked at IJM full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The mission: They have a compelling and a smart mission that will make you want to give your all to the people they serve.

The people: Smart, professional, excellent, and just plain fun!

    Cons

    Big goals with little resources.

Management: Although improving, there isn't much of a focus on management. For example, many managers in Marketing don't value their staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Start prioritizing people.

    Pros

Enthusiastic and proactive staff with a passion for their work

    Cons

Their is significant lack of communication between HQ and field offices. Interns especially will not be supported once in the field.

    Pros

The mission couldn't be a better one. The people are amazing.

    Cons

Big goals are set, but because it is a non-profit, there aren't always enough resources to accomplish those goals.

    Pros

It was refreshing to work with top talent that were united behind a cause.
Change doesn't happen overnight, but good ideas make it to the top.
The onboarding and employee retention efforts are taken seriously. The Executive and HR teams highly value the staff.

    Cons

It ruins your outlook on all future careers. Working at IJM is a truly unique experience that will help you grow personally and professionally. It will be difficult for any job to compare.

Super supportive and welcoming staff. Great work environment. Staff was always willing to take time to meet with you and give career advice. They do a great job of educating new interns and staff about their mission and the organization.

    Cons

Intern work is very administrative sometimes, which is pretty normal for an internship.

I worked at IJM as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

The environment is fantastic- you're always pushed to do your best and work your hardest, but the work is always surrendered to a God who cares about justice and without whom the work cannot be done. IJM employees know how to work hard but also to laugh and celebrate the victories. I consider it a huge privilege to have worked here.

    Cons

The nature of the work (very intense issues of injustice) can be difficult to deal with.

I worked at IJM as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

You can have a real impact in the lives of real people and at the same time contribute to the transformation of public justice systems around the world.

    Cons

Some of the offices are in tough places to live - if you can't handle a big challenge, it's not for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work.
