I have been working at IKEA full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great Benefits - Health, PTO, Holiday Gift, $3 meal deal, Holiday Party, Team Outings
Unique Company Culture - not your usual corporate structure/environment
Global Market Leader - biggest home furnisher in the world and getting bigger
Opportunities for Development - lots of departments to work in depending on your interest

    Cons

Not enough locations in the US - limits moving around
Humble company so doesn't always do a good job of promoting how good it is to work here.
Technology is OK but not cutting edge

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend some money on promoting how good it is to work here, people won't know unless you tell them.

I have been working at IKEA full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Great medical and vacation benefits.

    Cons

I have worked there for 9 years as a sales co-worker. I only make 10.60 an hr. They pretend to be diverse but mostly hire young. They load on work and responsibility and lot's of pressure. The pay is bad and the raises( if you get one) are a joke. They pretend to care about a work life balance but they could care less. They are not loyal to employee's and take advantage when ever posslble. That's part of the reason they like them when they are young. Most people quit because of the frustration level and pay. I just gets worse every year. Totally disorganized. Can't believe store is up and running.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employee's and pay them a liveable wage for their hard work. Don't pretend you're flexible or concerned with work-life balance. Practice what IKEA preaches...

I have been working at IKEA

    Pros

Able to get health insurance, even working 12 hours a week, but much cheaper if you work at least 20 hours a week. Fun coworker events.

    Cons

Lots of weekends. Horrible HR department, although they're slowly weeding out the bad ones. Instead of getting rid of incompetent management, they just "demote" them at the same rate of pay. Daytime coworkers get a lot better treatment and perks (food in the staff cafe, committee meetings and trainings schedule mostly during the daytime).

I have been working at IKEA

    Pros

    Great Benefits
    Employee Recognition
    Potential for Bonuses

    Cons

    Unfair promotion practices
    old boy's club in facilities/operations

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get in touch with what is going on in your departments. Just because the service office says a job should be done one way doesn't mean that's the best way
