Pros
flexible hours, cheap food, employee discount, provides training for position, positions are very task specific, fun co-workers, provides extra uniforms
Cons
very disorganized management, paychecks were late, high turnover rate in management, some of the resources promised were not available when needed
Pros
Can sometimes be fun especially before a store opens and everyone works together building the showrooms. You do get an employee discount.
Cons
After the initial hoo ha of a store opening they cut hours to bare bones. People hire on as full time and within 3 months are part time, working 5 hours one day, then 4 hours two days later, it makes no sense. The pay is terrible, absolutely awful and this is an extremely wealthy company.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop hiring your cronies that have no experience in the supervisory job you got them. Hire experienced people for those jobs and your buddies from Starbucks to positions where they can learn something.
Pros
the people I work with.
Cons
they want you to work 50 hrs per week
Advice to Senior Management
Your going through managers like water
Pros
Flexible schedule, great work/life balance, great training/classes, excellent relationship with management team, love diversity, other coworkers.
Cons
Customer Service need more help, more coworkers, better attitude from management team
Advice to Senior Management
Improve customer service, more training would not hurt
Pros
Good value staff canteen. I feel like i can go home and not worry about work too much when i get home
Cons
Regularly need to work unpaid overtime, little communication and very difficult to get anything positive out of any of the management. Amongst others
Advice to Senior Management
Not everyone that works for you are idiots, allow people to reach there potential and provide constructive feedback every now and then
Pros
Good work conditions
Was a fun place to work
Company culture
Cons
Mangement Outsourcing IT
Forcing us out
Advice to Senior Management
IKEA IT culture does not match IKEA Culture anymore.
Pros
Good and friendly atmosphere between the various positions.
Cons
Low salary compared to same positions in other companies, overtime without payment even among part-timers is not uncommon.
Advice to Senior Management
Always smile and be positive! Be that person everyone wants to work with and you will be doing just fine.
Pros
I love room design and working with the public. The atmosphere is always on the cutting edge. If you can work doing something that you love it is almost like getting paid for nothing.
Cons
Having a family I found it hard to support myself with the pay. Also, I was never allowed to earn enough hours so that I would be eligible for benefits...
Advice to Senior Management
If you offer more comprehensive benefits packages you may not have as much worker turnover and be able to secure career minded individuals...
Pros
Great people diversity is awesome
Cons
Sometimes retail is not fun when dealing with difficult customers
Advice to Senior Management
Hire withing increases the moral of the company
Pros
Strong company culture - there is a sense of pride in co-workers working in the organization. Company also has systematic procedures and processes due to its huge size. New staff can quickly settle down with a whole pallet of orientation programs catered. Very strong branding.
Cons
Downside of strong culture is that there is a risk of thinking IKEA is the centre of the universe and no one else matters.
