Pros
Good leadership in my department
Cons
Need to work on developing employees
More promotion from within
Advice to Senior Management
Better communication down
Pros
Nice people, 8am-5pm working hours, convenient suburban location, name recognition
Cons
Sweatshop, tries to do too much with too little, limited professional and career advancement, short-sighted approach by management values short-term company gains over long-term advancement of company and employee goals
Advice to Senior Management
Cure myopic approach to management; embrace long-term strategies that advance both the company and the professional and career goals of excellent employees in order to retain them
Pros
There are None. Ikon has seen it's best days. It's OVER. At one period yeares ago Ikon was a good company to work with.
Those days are long gone.
Cons
Ricoh is going to fire everyone. This is a company where old ideas and good ole boys are still at the forefront of Ikons mindset. Promotions are strictly based upon nepitisum and not on ability and progressive ideas. As a matter of fact due to the amount of legacy that exist there, the leadership would not be able to recognize good talent or a great idea to save their lives much less the company. This is a company that allows legacys to move up if they screw up. And this is being done at the cost of the investors. Do not throw good money after bad if you are an investor.
Advice to Senior Management
Retire or Resign
Pros
what were the best reasons to work for IKON should be the question. we had a variety of products and several other services we could provide customers. we were different from other copier companies because our strategy was trying to make a difference between us and the japanese compaines making our product
Cons
we have now become a distribution arm for a japanese manufacturer and all they are interested in is moving hardware product at low prices as compared to maintaining the levels of profitability that ikon had always had in the past. nobody cares any longer. most upper management made alot of money on the stock and dont even work anymore
Advice to Senior Management
senior management should be embarassed when the CEO of IKON Matt Espe brings with him into the parking lot a brand new porsche so everyone can see. we all know you sold us out, sold our customers out and for the most part sold many investors out. You did however do a great job lining your pockets and a few of your buddies. Nice Job
Pros
The benefits are ok since it's a large corporation. Many of the people I worked with were very nice.
Cons
At least for me, I was not compensated fairly for the work that I was expected to do. In my position at least, we were given all the blame when something went wrong but none of the reward when things went right.
Advice to Senior Management
The senior management was actually pretty great to be honest. They were all very nice and respectful. I would just advise them to give credit where credit is due.
Pros
good people, good work balance culture, but they do that so they can pay you alot less then the market.
Cons
poor pay, little advancement opportunities, top mgmt receives 99% of the benefit for the sweat equity of the line workers. middle management largely incompetent in my opinion. because they pay so far under the market, they can't get qualified managers to come work for them, so the whole place suffers. plus, the company mood or culture is terrible. higly negative cynical place to work I found. Nobody wants to work in a place like that. don't go to work here if you are interested in building a career.
Advice to Senior Management
pay market wages, find real leadership who have successfully run other companys. espe spent all those years essentially doing nothing but shucking and jiving in my opinion. every quarter he'd come out with his corporate speak and financial gobblygook thinking the lowly workers were too stupid to figure out he was saying next to nothing. well, now we know he was saying next to nothing. the irony, he got a nice package out of this sale while everybody else got screwed. how can i get a job like that?
Pros
A large company like IKON affords employees the opportunity to learn new job skills and transition easily from one position to another. Any employee with a desire to grow and a willingness to work hard to learn new things will find opportunities for promotion at IKON.
Cons
The only thing constant in the world is change and that is definitely the case now at IKON. With the recently announced acquisition of IKON by supplier Ricoh Corp, it is easy to fee uneasy about the future and what it holds for employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Employees are worried about what the acquisition will mean for them in the future. It's easy to say that no major changes are expected, but it's harder to believe when your salary is such that your safety net if job loss occurs is limited.
Pros
None - the company will shrink under new ownership
Cons
Terrible senior management, self interested CEO regurgitating his tired GE playbook. A fundamantal lack of integrity and competence.
Advice to Senior Management
The board should be been replaced long ago. They have allowed Espe to drive the company into the ground. Good luck Ricoh.
Pros
It is a job that pays well compared to other companies. Salaries are above average as are bonus amounts but only for more senior people
Cons
Senior Management is only out for themselves. There is little room to provide opinions that are not in step with the CEO
Advice to Senior Management
Leave the company and give back all the stock that was received
