I have been working at IMC Group as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

What stands out about IMC is the smart people you work with, the quality of the projects, and the learning that you do when you are there. I have met some great people that work here and they stand out compared to other organizations where i have worked. They have great perks -free lunches, etc. and there is always something social going on.

It's a cool combination of fun, while maintaining a level of seriousness about the work that gets done.

    Cons

If you have any vertigo, the office may not be for you - the 43rd floor of the Sears Tower makes for a great view, but my girlfriend can stomach it.

I worked at IMC Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is small enough that it's usually easy to get good ideas implemented without having to go through layers of management. The management style is quite flat and there isn't a cast system where different classes of people are treated better or worse, e.g. business vs development.

    Cons

The offices have quite distinct styles, e.g. Chicago goes for graduates mainly, Amsterdam is more political but has more people you can learn from etc., so one location may suit you better than another.

    I worked at IMC Group

    Pros

The indusrty is fun to work within and the ability to make money is good. Some coworkers are great and fun.

    Cons

People are greedy and the pay is one sided. A few traders make all the money and the other groups are not treated fairly. Trading is the only thing here and it does not matter if you are a trader trainee or a 10 year experienced trader you are treated well. All others are not treated fairly or well at all. Even if you have experience you are a nobody unless you are in trading. A worthless place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For world domination you need more than just traders. You need other groups to work to get to that goal too.
