I worked at IMD as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

It is an interesting, fast-paced, prestigious place. Students across programmes, both MBA and short courses, are highly motivated and generally appreciative. On site lunch for employees is top notch. Access to gym classes and facilities and daycare also good.

    Cons

Like students everywhere, there are some whose expectations are too high to be met (anywhere). The more challenging problem, however, is the work environment for administrative staff (not sure about faculty). There are some who, like the students, are highly motivated and competent. However, there are many who are not very capable, motivated or nice. This results in a strong undercurrent of negative competitiveness among the staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have staff engage in some 360 learning activities; give them feedback on how they are doing their jobs according to alumni, current students, and colleagues. Ensure, starting with HR, that staff responds professionally to all applicants (students, staff, faculty).
