I worked at IMG Worldwide full-time

    Pros

Huge, well known, international company so a great resume builder. I worked at Art + Commerce (acquired by IMG) which was a lot smaller. Good in the sense that I learned a lot about the industry. They are best in the business! I learned a lot without even realizing it until later.

    Cons

Art + Commerce wanted to be kept "separate" from IMG, so different office. Had nothing really to do with IMG or get a good sense of the IMG corporate company. The people in the office for the most part were too serious about what they did and seemed to have no time for anyone other than themselves and who made them money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make an effort to warm the Art + Commerce offices to IMG culture.

    Pros

Entrepreneurial. Great vision and career development opportunities.

    Cons

Private Equity leadership led to hyper focus on bottom line profitability, rather than growth, stunting opportunities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in talent. Hold people accountable.

    Pros

    - fast-paced environment
    - many intern events to meet other interns, network with executives and employees throughout the company
    - reasonable amount of work
    - learn from top professionals

    Cons

    - internship was unpaid
    - company was under the process of a transition when it was getting sold, so lots of people were coming/going

I have been working at IMG Worldwide full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

A company that very much lives up to its reputation. Have received a good amount of interest from headhunters since starting.

    Cons

Heavy on politics and very important to get in with the right people straight from the start.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's such an ego-based industry and often at IMG it feels like the biggest ego consistently wins.

I worked at IMG Worldwide full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The team was very helpful and came together when it counts the most to complete every task that arose.
We had the opportunity to assist sponsors, vendors, and world class athletes with a great experience.

    Cons

Some of the challenges is scheduling team members to work critical shifts during the tournament. The opportunity to enjoy the event itself was not available.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Consider work-life balance

Was a fantastic company, until the Private Equity guys took over...

    I worked at IMG Worldwide

    Pros

Very entrepreneurial, healthy swagger, interesting content

    Cons

Private equity company which took over never understood the company or the culture. As a result, they moved it to a commodity media buyer / seller than a dynamic agency driven by core ideals and a belief in people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The new owners (WME) have to provide vision beyond EBITDA results. The company still retains some fantastic assets and personnel, they just need proper alignment and leadership.

I worked at IMG Worldwide full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Great health benefits
Met some very cool people at IMG and in college athletics which could lead to other positions in athletic departments
Great place to be if you are extremely motivated and love cold calling and meeting new people
Pretty good training tools although whether your school will let you take the training wheels off of your new ideas another question
We did have some good bonuses when we did hit our goals

    Cons

Pay was ehhh. Don't get too excited over $10 an hour, but there is the opportunity to get to $11.00 after a year; and the benefits definitely helped once those kicked in.
You will not find much room to move unless you are flexible to move out of state as there aren't a ton of properties in your neighborhood.
Depending on which school you are assigned to will help determine how creative you can be with your sales campaigns and will often limit your commission (if they sell out in many of the sports you do sell)
Many of the staff at the schools you work with are not very accepting of new people "on their turf" talking to their customers etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A place for reps/managers and all to share documents like benefits groups receive if they reach a certain ticket market
A place for reps/manager etc. to share ideas, possible a forum of sorts where multiple people could comment; rather than a super long email chain
Contests against other properties were a good idea and good way to increase team morale
