I worked at ING Commercial Banking full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good people, clear values, and friendly environment are all positive points at the bank.

    Cons

By not reporting directly to Amsterdam and reporting to NY increases the bureucracy in all process inside the bank. Besides, some deals get blocked by the Americans.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The bank needs to have a clear strategy on its position in the Brazilian market.

I worked at ING Commercial Banking as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

High level of autonomy and you are treated as a full time staff. Great colleagues that were willing to teach and help.

    Cons

A lot of responsibility as an employee often double hat to 2 roles. Often stay late behind in office in order to finish work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some form of structuring of the departments is needed.

    Pros

Work life balance, benefits probably ok for internals, safe and steady and secure environment for mid career professionals.

    Cons

The usual large bank inertia on projects and baseline. A lack of leadership and ideas. Agile used as micromanagement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find some way to achieve your ambitions without always trusting the incumbents - shake things up a bit.

I worked at ING Commercial Banking

    Pros

Not as cut-throat as some other investment banks in Singapore

    Cons

No growth in Asia, no strategy/direction, cost-cutting to the max, dead wood (on the flip side, it's good for career longevity) in various depts

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell the branch to other bigger players in the region

    Pros

Give you freedom to work and every colleague could be your mentor. They are all willing to help you and you could ask whatever questions you don't know.
    Highly recommend to apply!

    Cons

Actually I can't think of any. The company also provides incredibly benefits for interns, so no complaint :)

I worked at ING Commercial Banking as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Very professional team and great working atmosphere. Overall the experience was very satisfying. Tutorship and advice provided by the head of the department. Definitely a good company to have on your CV, especially as a student with little or no experience.

    Cons

No challenging tasks during the internship. Mostly it was 'watch and learn' and some routine day-to-day stuff, no real responsibility or sense of working as part of the team.

I worked at ING Commercial Banking full-time

    Pros

Not as much work as at other banks (on the investment banking side)
Some nice colleagues and an apparently relatively flat organization

    Cons

Stingy on items where they should spend money, wasteful on expat benefits or team-building perks
    Not driven
No strategy - they dream up goals and then believe that magic will make it all happen

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Either you do stuff 100% or don't bother.
