    Pros

The salary and the bonus was alright and the people were cool to work with.

    Cons

When i worked there they had so many different applications you had to use to do your underwriting. The process was very redundant. Also, They expect you to follow their ING culture which felt like a cult.

I worked at ING Direct full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The training was great, the hiring process was simple, and the company offered excellent benefits. Software was extremely easy to use. The sales floor is usually full of young professionals so its a great place to get to know people your age and connect.

    Cons

The job got extremely boring after about 3 months. Every call was monitored, except for unrecognized numbers. Depending on the sales coach, you could be scrutinized for every extra second you stay in "after call wrap up" or "request" time. The company has been through a buyout, its name is now Capital One 360.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at ING Direct full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Somewhat flexible scheduling
    Gym Membership reimbursement
    Paid Time Off
    Inbound Calls Only

    Cons

    -Minimal Pay
    -Ridiculous Incentive structure
-Too many people working in middle management that don't have legit education
-Needs to have direct line to card assistance department (there were just too many times where a person's debit card would be completely shut off without notification and they'd call the bank asking what happened and why can't they access their checking account and the only answer we could give was "sorry for the inconvenience, your new card is on the way") That's just bad business and against everything the bank claims to stand for.

-Also the Bank was founded on a low-cost model so that it would be able to pass the savings onto their customers. The result of this? The employees get paid virtually nothing!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut the number of assistant coaches (middle management) by 75%. They serve no real purpose to the sales associates. Make the PTO approval process more transparent. Adjust "Time to Sell" incentive structure. It's completely flawed and unfair and not transparent enough. It's basically set up so that if you take too many calls you shoot yourself in the foot. It got so bad to the point where I would continually make up excuses to get off the phones just so that I wouldn't take so many calls. Yea if you convert on all the calls it doesn't make a difference but nobody is working at a 90% conversation rate over the course of a month. Be realistic.

    I worked at ING Direct

    Pros

This place has great benefits and allows you to grow if you're young and willing to work hard.
People care about what they do and the organization stands for something. They have very strict underwriting guidelines for their mortgage loans which means less people end up in default...the bank was solvent

    Cons

Pay was low compared to other banks.
There were never enough opportunities for growth.
If you didnt "know" someone, then you never learned of any of the opportunities available. If you didnt play the game, then you would feel stuck...you really had to learn new skills are you're own. if you realized this then you may be able to advance.
Also, they were bought by Capital One and they are shutting down the LA site. bummer.
