    Pros

A good place for entry level jobs. You can move up pretty quickly within the company if you want to. There are a lot of opportunities to learn and to grow. Most people are great to work with, and thankful for management who are willing to help you grow and give you more responsibility if you ask for it. Christmas bonus is awesome, but company is too cheap to put on a Christmas dinner off site. Instead, you get a Christmas lunch (about an hour or two) on site during the work day. However, certain groups are often treated very well, and given free lunch incentives once in awhile (depending on goals met). Management very flexible when it comes to taking time off, but usually only half the group (or a percentage of the group) is able to take time off at the same time. This means having people work during the holiday week (besides Christmas & eve).

    Cons

Very low pay compared to the rest of the industry. Not that many vacation/sick days. Very strict about clocking in and out. Very disorganized when it comes to document control. Holiday benefits are not very good. You get only two days during Christmas holidays off. So if the holiday lands in the middle of the week, people are forced to come in before or after the two days. This causes employees to be burnt out by the time they come back from "vacation", and no productive work is accomplished during the holidays and the beginning of the new year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase pay=increase work morale. You want people to care about their work and their jobs. Working in 3 different groups at Inova gives me a good idea of how people treat their work. People don't care because you don't treat them well. Give people and incentive to want to do more and want to put in more time. More holidays. Better benefits: like paying for part of maternity leave. Unlimited sick days. More vacation time.

    Pros

Benefits are equal to current standards for a Biotech company. People are very uptight and anxious due to extreme work load and constant blaming. But insurance is good.

    Cons

Not a friendly environment to work in. Management try to prove and show results to owner without proper train their employees, Vacation time was giving to supervisors but not a backup plan for the new employees that just arrived.

They like to blame rather than support, train and promote. Need new Management for sure. Who can implement a employee excellence program.

Supervisors expect you ask question when you already in trouble rather than support and guide you. This is a company mentality for what I've saw.

I've been working for 2 months and I resigned due lack of professionalism. No proper train.
Expect be ready withing 2 months or they start harassing you with "You been here over 2 months..."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Company could be better with a new management. But it will never happen, management are so strong as a union. Better off in another company.

I have been working at INOVA Diagnostics

    Pros

Leader in a niche market, growing company with advancement opportunities, great people, values hard workers and fast learners

    Cons

Pay could be better, many outdated processes, could benefit greatly from hiring experienced instrument and software developers, split into two separate buildings and departments do not always work together

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in a software and instrument development team and increase pay for departments below industry standard and with high turnover.

    Pros

With new ownership came the ability to advance. There are opportunities to change departments and learn new skills. The executive team is very good at the business side of things.

    Cons

As stated in pros, the executive team is very good at the business of the business, but they know nothing about science (except for one VP). This sometimes gets in the way of producing a quality product right out of the gate

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

stop creating so many levels of management, and let the people do their job

I have been working at INOVA Diagnostics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There is a couple good scientists here. There is opportunity to learn a lot about processes when working in research because rather than much lab-work, there is a lot of paperwork and assay development. They offer $5,000 continuing education credit (with some restrictions on how they doll out the money) which can be beneficial to many people.

    Cons

The pay is simply less than anything offered out there and all employees know it. This ends up leading to very high turn-over. The "research" team does work that is absolutely not research. Hiring is mainly done within department transfers. At face value this is great if the candidates qualified for the jobs they are being offered, but they absolutely are not but are allowed to transfer under the "personal growth" moniker. This weakens groups.
Also the company has the general mentality of get in, do a job, getting out. In at 6:30a.m and leave at 3p.m. There is very little excitement at work and everyone seems to just be passing time rather than excited about being their and about the work they are doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's contradictory when the company line is that INOVA cares about talent retention yet they do nothing about their compensation packages, leading to very very high turn-over rates, which destroy employee moral, and in turn encourage further turn-over.

    Cons

Low pay compared to industry standards, Bottle-necks in the manufacturing process flow, They seem to hire a lot of upper-level management and no one to help with the bottle-necks

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Negotiate higher pay rates for lower-level employees
    Hire more people in QA
