    Pros

Pay is great but the constant emergencies get old fast. If you are Russian, this is the place to work. No matter how stupid you are, or how many failures you manufacture, you will be kept.

    Cons

Terribly mismanaged, emotion driven, reactionary environment. Constantly questioned and scrutinized even if results are evident. Always defending work, unless sanctioned by a Russian...and then the fall guy if a failure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Move the operation to Russia where it belongs

    Pros

Addequate salaries, Addequate beefits, Education incentives, Standard annual Gym reinbursement, friendly cooworkers.

    Cons

Lack of focus in quality, lack of direction in R&D, poor planning with budgets, focus on only minimum compliance with ISO 9001.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on quality compliance and improve on management training.

I worked at IPG Photonics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are talented at back stabbing and glory hounding, you should work at IPG.These qualities are thriving there. They make laser weapons, how inspiring.

    Cons

When the Russian based company IPG did not fire but put respected American Managers in dead end jobs, the tone was set, soon all building managers told to learn Russian language to keep their jobs. Started hiring Russians that were related to or friends of other Russians already there. As this continued, the quality of life, the quality of work all went down hill for everyone.
Trying to make a decent wage is impossible also. They will offer you much less than you were previously making. An interview is probably the biggest mistake, just walk out and work at any other job and be much happier anywhere else!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clear out your HR department, start new. Hire some Americans to run other Americans also, stop with all the favors and weird Immigration laws that somehow do not apply to your foreign workers. (They bring Russians over and claim nobody in the world can do that job)

I worked at IPG Photonics full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are decent, good company outlook

    Cons

Not a team environment, very hierarchical, lack the ability to move up within (open positions not posted) the only way to move up is to speak Russian or be brought in my one, status is more important than a job well done, they belittle people especially those who are not executives and this is acceptable, you are treated like a robot and not a human, HR is a joke and not people oriented at all

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Build a team and people will want to be there. Even the lowest paid person is doing something valuable for your company so treat them as so!

I worked at IPG Photonics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Booming company. Very good benefits. Opportunities to work with the latest technologies. Dynamic work environment at the technician and engineering levels. Personally experienced substantial career growth in a relatively short time.

    Cons

Poor management. Nepotism and hearsay have as much impact on your success as your performance does. There is a distinct lack of professionalism and employees are occasionally "dressed down" in front of others for marginal reasons. Hourly employees are normally expected to put in substantial overtime hours and salaried are also expected to work long days and weekends to make very aggressive delivery schedules. No performance evaluation system in place. In the three-plus years I worked there I never received a review or merit increase.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

IPG Photonics has made strides in becoming a modern business but still sorely lacks in middle management. Show employees that management is invested in their success by reviewing their performance regularly. Cultivate a professional work environment and hold current and future managers to higher standards that foster growth and the employee's desire to be successful.

I have been working at IPG Photonics

    Pros

Plenty of mandatory overtime enforced. Orange walls and yellow floors keep the employees happy.

    Cons

Required to work 60+ hours per week. Upper management lacks foresight and plans poorly leaving the workers to make up their slack. Poor bonuses. Never have had a review so I don't know how I am doing. Critical information is seldom shared even when it directly relates to your own job. Never gives raises in salary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you know you are going to be producing a lot of product. Hire, train and then produce, don't threaten, force employees to make up for your mistakes in planning.
