Pros
+ Decent salary for area
+ Comfortable environment
+ Lack of micro-managing / Independence is strongly favored
+ Decent position and company for those with deep technical knowledge
Cons
- You will get substantially chewed out by an upset customer around once a week
- Raises are far and in between unless you are a magnificent performer or you're experienced
- Some senior managers lacked people skills
Advice to Senior Management
Find a way to speed up the process for correcting phone line issues for customers. Maybe you need to hire more field mechanics. Your customers and Maintenance Technicians would deeply appreciate it.
Pros
The people are great to work with
Cons
There is lack of clear vission
Pros
Good benefits and team spirit. Accurate accounting of commissions, etc. Reasonably good training on various products and service offerings. Decent sales resources.
Cons
Poor customer service track record in handling customer issues on a timely basis, as well as issues pertaining to timely completion of cutovers. Tech support generally understaffed, leading to slow response times.
Advice to Senior Management
Give more attention to the back office, training representatives fielding calls as to how to be more professional in advice and follow up. Beef up the service tech staff.
Pros
Financially strong and stable, Robust, fully-owned facilities-based network, More than twenty-five year history delivering integrated telecommunications and technology solutions throughout the Southeast, comprehensive benefits package, supportive atmosphere, solutions not sales, strong current customer relationships are a driving force, Offer many products to give a true solution for the customer.
Cons
Many competitors that offer similar standard products, commissions docked for competing in a harsh economy, Name recognition is lower than it should be.
Advice to Senior Management
Thank you for keeping the small company mentality. Keeping up with our current customers is a good way to build a business and a name in this industry.
Pros
Good Support. Techs are knowledgeable and helpful. Great in house Customer Support.
You will learn telecommunications and the internet from the inside out. Good Base Pay and Opportunity to work independently.
Cons
The market is saturated. The best time to be in the business was twelve to ten years ago. T-1s are now below $300 and therefore commissions are a fraction of what they once were.
Most prospects are in contracts.
Advice to Senior Management
Less Reps and larger bases for proven sales experience
Pros
Great people.
Flexible with time.
Low pressure.
Good salary.
Our bottom line has been AMAZINGLY managed in preparation for and during this recession. No major reductions in force, we are growing and hiring.
Cons
Telecom, in general, does not have a high profit margin. Therefore, budgets are always tight regardless of economic times. If you are in telecom, you know this already, though!
Advice to Senior Management
Implement an employee review program. Reward the people that are doing the best work. Don't hire people out of their main area of knowledge.
Pros
Good Benefits for any level employee
Cons
lack of high speed networking products, poor customer service
Advice to Senior Management
Take time to grow you employee's and hire better candidates.
Pros
None really. The local manager worked hard to support us, but management in AL don't know what is going on
Cons
Said no lay-offs and then had company meeting hush hush and then guess what - no jobs
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your people
