    ITT in Iraq (TAC-SWACAA)

    Electronics Technician (Former Employee)

Prosbenefits were great with meals, lodging and transportation provided; generous paid vacation time per year; good salary, about in the middle of other companies providing similar service; was offered a follow on job stateside as Iraq was finishing

Conssome employees were lacking proper knowledge to operate independently and relied heavily on the techs that know their duties; middle management was a real low spot here. many mgrs were not suited for the position; i believe their normal operations are much better

ProsComradery of team members-the interaction with the many army units on Fort Bragg.

ConsIt was only contract work and about 250 of us were laid off when ITT did not win the new Bid.

Would rather live under a bridge than work here again

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Colorado Springs, CO

ProsGained valuable experience working with different programs

ConsExtremely unethical and amoral. Was asked to cheat on my time card to prevent overtime costs.Salary caps are based on what the current senior person in that career field is making, not the local average. Logistics department held "spouse swapping" parties. Two team members, without clearances, were allowed to continue working on the program, even after security violations. Good old boys club is alive an well! Left because my doctor feared for my health due to the increased job stress.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more concerned about the work environment and employee morale than making a name for yourself and covering your behinds. Daily four hour "progress" meetings do not improve team cohesiveness.

Was able to gain some valuable experience within the DOD industry from a phenomenal leader.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Colorado Springs, CO

ProsMy manager was a phenomenal leader and mentor who really taught me some invaluable lessons and instruction during my employment there. The employees both within the corporate office and in the field in Afghanistan, both U.S. Citizen and Foreign National, both the custodian cleaning the bathroom and the V.P. of Operations, all felt important and represented equally. She was a true leader.

The original LOGCAP HR / Mgmt team had some excellent leaders among them! They were respected for their high values and ethical standards. It was such a shame to see them split up by upper management.

ConsUnfortunately when large contracts with large amounts of money come into play, a companies ethics start becoming challenged. Employees hired for overseas contracts were not always given the correct information or provided everything stated in the contract. Many things "over looked", or "forgotten", in sake of the employee working overseas. Unfortunately, it does seem to be the "name of the game" in this particular industry, however I was hoping this company would have been the one to set the standard and do the right thing for the employees that work in these danger zones.

Advice to Senior ManagementLeadership is a combination of strategy and character. If you must be without one, be without the strategy.

Large corporate structure, but everyone is an engineer and easy to relate to.

    Civil Engineering Intern (Former Employee)
    Monrovia, CA

ProsYou got to work for NASA/JPL, and be a part of the team that guarantees transmissions to and from space. Everyone believes in the mission, and there are some die-hard JPL'ers embedded in the ITT staff. Reasonable hours (no more than 40 hrs/wk for interns), and a good balance of field work and office work. Everyone on staff seemed very friendly and approachable.

ConsI was a college intern for a summer. The work got a bit tedious at times (at one point I was just cutting labels and putting them in binders), but that's part of the job I suppose.
