I worked at ITT Technical Institute full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good staff, great academic team, and great experience in working with students. Minus the stress of meeting "numbers," and other measurements, it was a good job. Compensation was a lot lower compared to other schools in the area (for comparable positions), and benefits weren't that great... insurance was the most confusing and taxing of all. Considering all, it was a great opportunity to connect with good people whose paths might not have crossed under other circumstances.

    Cons

Great instructors, deans, chairs, and staff were let go of because of "numbers" not being met and circumstances out of their control (i.e. declining student attendance due to costs, personal events, etc.). Turnovers were inevitable. And leadership does matter-- surprisingly one person's decisions and regard for staff can make or break an entire school's success. There were times where morale was low, work-life balance was disregarded to meet deadlines, needs of staff and students were not met, and seeming lack of concern for burnout, and very little was done to turn it around.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior management seemed unaware that their corporation was based on providing educational services to students' future success-- and it's hard to do that in an environment that's driven and interpreted solely by "numbers" and profit. Student success isn't numerical, and can't be predicted solely by profit-- it takes a concerted effort to provide quality services AND *education*.

I worked at ITT Technical Institute

    Pros

Good pay and they are very clear about what you are getting into before bringing you onboard. The onboarding process was also good preparation and there are some very good people working at all levels of the business.

    Cons

A tension between the business and academic side of the business. Profit often came at the expense of the students, especially those who were not prepared for being successful as students. Oddly enough the technology available was below the norm available to people in other business or personal worlds. High turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decide what you want to be and build a full time staff that can get you there.

    Pros

    The Pay and Compensation package.

    Cons

Long hours, they do not care about your family and/or outside life.
pushed to enroll students that should never be in college. they only want "Butts in seats".
they provide the leads that are still truly cold calls.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean up your imagine but starting to hire upper management that actually cares about the staff. Making recruitment work holidays and stay until 9 PM at night is OLD FASHION. Seriously ask yourself if you would be excited to get a call from a college on a holiday?
would that call(s) be the difference between choosing ITT over the next college? Would you like if someone called your home at 8 or 9 PM at night and was trying to sell you a worthless Degree? The director comes in at 9 and leaves at 5 and says he is accessible to students.

I worked at ITT Technical Institute full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It was a job that offered a chance to make a living. The employees who worked there on the ground level were easy enough to get along with.

    Cons

Constant change and unfounded expectations created an unfriendly high pressure situtation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With a new CEO being appointed, perhaps they will have a chance to patch up a sinking ship.

I worked at ITT Technical Institute part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It was fun working with the students.

    Cons

Low pay, curriculum is poorly designed (too much material to be covered in a given time).
Students are recruited and signed up for programs for which they do not have the prerequisite requirements. For example, many students enrolled in the Technical Mathematics course are not even proficient in high school level algebra.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop recruiting students that are not qualified to begin their course of study just to get their money. It's a very cruel practice, since prospective students are lead to believe they can
succeed when it's clear from the get-go they cannot. The recruiters need to take into consideration the knowledge and abilities of the people they recruit, and only bring in people who have the necessary background to succeed.

I worked at ITT Technical Institute full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Overall, great group of people to work with. Very professional, focused on doing the work the right way. Good curriculum, but extremely slow in implementing any IT projects - and usually not tested thoroughly in advance that damaged customer experience.

    Cons

Executive management took a great company and absolutely ruined it. Made some very poor key decisions that doomed their fate.

I have been working at ITT Technical Institute full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Salary is decent at average of $35k to $40k a year. Schedule, and set up High School presentations as a recruiter, and capture the attention of students who are already portraying interest in furthering their education. FU and invite them and their parents to school and tour them and sell them on attending the school. Once interested, you pass them on to the testing area, and onto the next school and same o same o. Half in office, half in field, indepent for most part.

    Cons

Salary only, no extra incentives. (PERSONAL EXPERIENCE Some managers can micro manage and ruin your chance at feeling comfortable. They tend to hire drill instructor types to be managers, so tread carefully. If you receive Top Outside sales representative for the whole district, they can lose your record of employment and your earnings that show it , so I recommend holding on to anything they give you, because they wont. If your supervisor mistreats you and you try to go over their head to complain, they find out about and make your office life a living hell. Then when you give a two weeks notice, you look like the bad guy and they conveniently lose your award. Not everyone is like this, but this was a major con to a position I loved the best, and was unable to keep, or return to. )

    Pros

Interacting with the students and student support staff. The success of ITT Tech. is dependent on student success. Those at ITT Tech ensure that all efforts are made to fulfill the students expectations.

    Cons

One of the challenges that I see is some of the students do not take the education process seriously. This has to change and I find it to be an ever pressing matter.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In order for the instructors to succeed a realistic set of goals and expectations should be communicated to ALL involved parties.

    Pros

The abundance of technology at your every beck and call. Awesome support system. Pay is tolerable.

    Cons

Not as much training as I would have expected, but they are sure that you know what you need in order to do your job well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

At least pay what the median is in each state. The cost of living annual raise that you get doesn't mean much.
