    I worked at Icbc

    Pros

Fresh graduates need to go through two years rotation after hired to the head office of ICBC. The rotation is quite tough. You have to work as a teller for one year. Then you will spend the second year in a particular division at a branch. Although the training is tough, it is good for a new employee to know how things operate at the basic level of a commercial bank's business.

    Cons

Too many students are hired every year. The selecting process is like picking the stereotype that fit for the bank. Another point to mention is the hierarchy and bureaucracy which are quite typical in state-owned banks.

I worked at Icbc as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

ICBC has a laid-back environment, friendly culture, and good employee. You can be satisfied with the work-life balance.

    Cons

The average salary is less than other commercial banks. And the career opportunity is very limited because most the manager-level employees comes from oversees.

I have been working at Icbc full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

If you need specialized equipment its yours ...

    Cons

Processes in my area are in desperate need of revamping but the number of hoops you have to jump through to effect change, and the resistant of the old guard is crazy. I have a crushing workload managing 25+ people and because I'm new to the corporation my salary is approximately 25% less than my counterpart who has been with the corp a long time but doesn't bring the same level of managerial experience and technical expertise that I bring ... not cool. Decisions on staffing, etc. is too politically driving vs. decisions made based on merit and pure business need.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
