I have been working at Ignited full-time

    Pros

Management allows employees to create and seize their own opportunities. Great people with entrepreneurial spirits. Friday Shake Shake. Unlimited vacation. Summer Fridays. Matching Philanthropic Gifts.

    Cons

A select few employees are complacent and don't push themselves to excel has much as they could, and as much as clients and peers demand.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to challenge employees and the status quo. Build and seek out strong leaders, and encourage under-performers to move on elsewhere.

    I worked at Ignited

    Pros

    - Unlimited PTO, health benefits (vision, dental, medical, life insurance), gym discount to Spectrum across the street, lots of sick days and holidays, cheap snacks and drinks, free yoga classes, travel/education/philanthropy contribution match programs, pop-up agency events, summer Fridays, amazing co-workers

    Cons

    - Senior management is messy, there's little structure and everyone seems to always be in a mad scramble. Claims that they are easily approachable since this is a private company, but very few of the ones remaining are approachable. Very few senior management left. Not even VPs.
    - President seems to only care and focus on the creative department.
    - Advancement is limited, especially with the loss of their major client.
    - Overworked, long hours, and never enough help. Work/life balance can be poor.
    - Salary for people looking to advance from within is not comparable to those who came from elsewhere
    - Limited client accounts
    - Employee turnover is high - largely from low pay, long hours, poor management
    - Not every team, but some teams seem to be more individualistic instead of collective
    - Unlimited PTO is fairly limited

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Diminish employee turnover by concentrating on benefits that employees truly care about (see Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs) rather than trying to blind employees with SOFA activities/benefits employees can't realistically take advantage
    - Hire help to save those who are still around, before they crack and drop out too
    - Regain employee trust. Many have expressed their frustrations, complaints, distrust, and dissatisfaction for the way HR and senior management has been running ship.

Good place to work 3-4 years ago, but continuing to sink like the Titanic in every way

I worked at Ignited full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Located on the edge of El Segundo--basically Manhattan Beach--near restaurants, retail stores, movie theater and beach
    - Discounted gym membership across the road from office
    - Unlimited vacation days

    Cons

    - No leadership (6 of 8 senior executives have left so there is no existing management, just lots of junior employees and a handful of qualified middle managers)
    - Small client roster with only one large client keeping the agency in business
    - Few opportunities for training and development outside of yoga and meditation classes
    - Rock-bottom morale due to loss of business, absence of management, lack of transparency, high turnover, backstabbing
    - Poor communication across departments despite small number of employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Create new mission for the agency to address continued lack of direction
    - Seek out new business rather than investing in pet projects that have little to do with what most of the agency does
    - Re-staff digital technology development team--Ignited may be only agency that has moved away from digital over last few years
    - Replace HR leadership that has lost trust of employees
    - Layoff remaining employees with consideration and professionalism if staying in business remains viable

I worked at Ignited full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

There are still some great, knowledgeable people who work here. The company has an "unlimited time off" vacation policy as well as a "Summer Fridays" program which offers a shortened Friday workday.

    Cons

Very few supervisors have any true managerial experience. It shows when it comes to handling those below them as well as their responsibilities to the company. Many employees in advanced roles remain willfully ignorant as to what jobs actually require. This results in a commonly heard mantra of "I don't care what it takes. Make it work!" Followed a few days later by, "Well we can't do that." Many employees on the client facing side fail to achieve a balance between client demands and company interests. Management rarely if ever follows through with promises to employees. Many times a program or change was said to be "in the works" and it dropped off the map. In many ways this is just the tip of the iceberg.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Return to the days when you hired professionals that actually knew how to do their jobs. Find those people again and let them do their jobs without micromanagement.

    Pros

The good people I met there no longer work there either, and we now work together.

    Cons

The president has no feeling for people, no creativity, and is in short a stuff shirt with one very impressive friend/business leader that helped him start the agency.
