    Pros

Great people for the most part

    Cons

Revolving door. Little or no training from some 'managers' and I use the term loosely. Lots of subterfuge.

I worked at Ikaria full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Nice Pay, good benefits, stay in nice hotels, good meal allowance. Great co-workers.

    Cons

MANAGEMENT not upfront about work expectations. Inadequate training in multiple areas, and demand to know the position that people who have been there over a decade aren't yet proficient in. Outdated technology and no support from immediate supervisor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When you have good employees they should be respected and provided the tools and training to learn the job. Tell the truth about what the job entails, listen when you are being told that you are not getting the support that is needed to be able to learn the position. Understand that people learn at different paces and they should not be requiring you to rush through education when dealing with hazardous materials. Managers should know the positions also and not sit behind a desk ordering staff like they are in the military. A working manager is the best manager!

I have been working at Ikaria full-time

    Pros

I enjoy working at a job knowing what I am doing every day is saving lives.

    Cons

There is no planning or forward thinking. Priorities are set on a hourly basis. There is ZERO communication from the corporate offices, other then them inviting all of the corporate employees to ice cream socials, or giving the corporate employees days off for hard work, while the people actually making the company money are working weekends and holidays. However we are still copied on the e-mails. Those are the corporate priorities, meanwhile it has been over 10 months since we had any business related contact with the corporate offices. There are also more people involved in looking over the work of the people at the bottom then there are people working at the bottom.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start treating your non-corporate employees like they are people.

I have been working at Ikaria full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Fair pay and plenty of over-time.

    Cons

Job security is non-existent. If you want a job, this place will suit you fine. If you want a career, look elsewhere. From what I've seen, the average tenure of an employee is 2-6 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Drivers are not technicians. Technicians are not drivers. You've created a labor system that, instead of providing redundancy, creates an environment that promotes mistakes. In a heavily FDA regulated work-culture, you've chosen to fortify your labor-redundancy with amateur labor. When a device fails on a patient, are you comfortable telling your customers that the last person who qualified the instrument was a truck-driver?

I have been working at Ikaria full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good product that helps people.

    Cons

Poorly managed facilities, treat branch employess poorly, expectations unrealistic for drivers, do not respect employees that deliver product or their feed back. No work / life balance. Manage by intimidation. Lot's of turnover - expect those that are loyal to take up the slack.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take some leadership courses and listen to your employees. Management mistakes shouldn't be taken out on those that support the company. Respect your employees, it goes a long way.

I have been working at Ikaria as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Valuable entry-level finance experience working in a fast-paced corporate enviornment, great workplace environment and culture, small private company translated to more responsibilities and a larger scope as an employee, experience with ERP systems and Excel

    Cons

Contract employee with hourly wage and no benefits or paid vacation, lack of communication among managers concerning my responsibities and work load, strong emphasis on temporary contracts and not long term employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should be more cognizant of their temporary and contracted employees. These contracted employees, including myself, range from entry-level administrative positions to upper level R&D and medical positions. Those of us who have a lesser role in the company are often neglected in terms of career opportunities and the ability to to acheive a full time position.
