I have been working at Illini Media part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place to start! The sales training they give you helps understand the media company and everything it has to offer. In sales there is a lot of room for growth and to expand on your responsibilities.

    Cons

There's a high turnover rate, mostly due to the fact that it's a student run media company. Some students find that sales isn't a great fit and move on.

I have been working at Illini Media part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Young people get responsibility. Great to build your resume but also to build professional skills and leave with experience most people don't get until after graduation. Flexible work around classes. Great history.

    Cons

Struggling financially and isn't as much of a powerhouse that it was once. Change is constant--not always a good thing.

    Advice to Management

Build the organization back up. Help student managers manage more. Hold everyone more accountable.

    Pros

-Allows students the flexibility to be in various positions, develop different skills -Many opportunities for leadership development -Flexible schedule, and the newspaper doesn't run during finals week so students can easily study

    Cons

-Sometimes you can get stuck working very late, but that's normal in the journalism business -Many unpaid positions, but most students work at Illini Media for the experience, not the money
