    Pros

The environment is pretty, the facade is attractive, the products hold promise, the revenues prove customer buy-in, company potential and mission statement are compelling.

    Cons

The workload can be excessive, and no help considered or capable from management. Operations trying to scale, but playing catch up, grasping at straws. Most important, the gaping hole in the quality control process desperately needs to be remedied and Quality department to be empowered. Think of the stars that shine brightly, only to burn out quickly.

    Advice to Management

Conduct internal audits, hire 3rd party auditors. Focus on product quality to retain customers.

    Pros

Exciting company vision that benefits human health. Illumina's solutions might be instrumental in curing cancer and other diseases. Dynamic culture with intelligent and high-energy workforce. Challenging assignments and career opportunities. Lots of growth potential. Strong financial rewards (e.g., RSUs). Stock is up 100% in past year. 2014 annual bonus paid at 150% of target.

    Cons

Building this company into a great organization - and sustaining that growth - is hard work and it requires long hours and personal sacrifices, but the benefits are there for those who commit. Unfortunately, some people view this place as just another job rather than perhaps the most meaningful work they will ever do professionally.

    Advice to Management

Drive operational decision-making down further in the organization. Still too much is centrally controlled by a small group of execs. This makes sense for strategy but not as much for operations.
