I have been working at ImClone as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Wonderful staff, always something new to learn, and opportunities to move up. I really enjoyed working with this company and would do it again.

    Cons

After being bought by Lilly, the community aspect lessened. Morale also decreased. However, this is only known if you worked there before the takeover. The company is still great after acquisition just not as awesome as it used to be.

Hit or Miss. Great if you're under the right manager/department. Dead in the water if you're not.

I worked at ImClone full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great new facility. Lots of amenities in the NYC campus building. Research Associates for the most part are a great group of people to work with. Benefits are okay. Once ImClone was fully integrated into Lilly, PPOs were no longer an option for insurance. You now have the option of HSA or HRA, though the company does deposit money into those accounts at the beginning of the year. The standard time off allowed in 15 days and 1-2 floating holidays. The days between Dec 25-Jan 1 are also mandatory off days and do not count towards your earned vacation. Robust pipeline.

    Cons

However, there is a large disconnect between the associate level and the scientist level. Very little work-life balance. Though there is an effort to make employees happy, it doesn't seem to be a genuine effort. Management will stab you in the back without a second thought to your well being. There isn't a lot of room for growth if you hold a bachelor's or master's degree.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on hiring more associates and less upper management. Or, take drastic steps to ensure your managers are competent.

I have been working at ImClone full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Work to fight cancer as Imclone is part of Lilly Oncology.

    Cons

After fully integrated with Eli Lilly, now Imclone is just a part of a big pharma. A lot talented people left.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at ImClone full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The culture, training, and facility there is top notch

    Cons

Lower on the pay scale, little room for advancement into the professional/management track

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within, develop the employees so they will stay. Low pay and no promotions is a sure formula for hemorrhaging your best talents

I worked at ImClone full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Solid process in place, good entry level job to start learning the equipment, process, and pharma industry.

    Cons

Hard to promote, stick to a firm 2 year MINIMUM between promotions even if you receive "CE" reviews.
Company moral and staff moral was low. Downsizing during company buyout. Building that I worked in shutdown and in no longer used, I cannot speak for the other buildings.

No advancement in knowledge opportunities (no outside classes / trainings / conferences offered to technicians as opposed to other companies i have worked at).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward people who do well and are ambitious.

I have been working at ImClone full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good hours, small company culture, great benefits as part of Eli Lilly- 401k, pension, free gym membership, backup daycare, good base salary and nice bonus, good and meaningful company goals to advance care for patient cancers

    Cons

Hard to advance in the small company, pay freezes, transitioning all policy over to Lilly's so sick days and vacation days are more limited, not transparent about things
