Cons
  • Below Industry standard salaries, Hikes are too low, and shares given to employees are very low (in 3 reviews)

    Advice to Management

Get your US employees working harder. There is a decided lack of motivation in some departments, it seems. Work from home should be treated as follows..... You can have work from home, but not on Monday or Friday (seems to blend into a long wknd). work-from-home is a privilege. You should be able to come into the office on those days. For any recurring weekly work-from-home day, there should be an automatic program that with some probability (maybe 10%, but manager could set), will reject the work-from-home and send email that worker should go in that day. (Too many folks act like they are entitled to it and are inflexible. When I hear a meeting that is going to be set up and someone says "Oh, that is my work from home day, and the mtg gets pushed out, it makes me want to become manager and kick some butt. With some random roll of the dice that work-from-home may be retracted at any time, every work-from-home-er knows that they might have to go into work that day and they don't plan a day full of errands. It'll keep ppl on their toes.) Face-to-face communication is very important. Yahoo did the right thing by reeling in work-from-home. There is talk the IMG is too tight on salaries. IMG-US has lost some stellar people in the US, afaik.

I have been working at Imagination Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly people, exciting company philosophy, it is really interesting to work there. The company is leader on the GPU for mobiles market, and so the projects are amazing. Not too much pressure from the hierarchy, we can feel really involved in the company achievements.

    Cons

Salary is really low, compared to the market rate. Benefits are quite low: share awards are really unfair as you are not even sure to get a bonus. Health insurance is just basic and could be way better. The location is not great but not bad either, nothing to do about it.

I worked at Imagination Technologies full-time

    Pros

It was a very nice experience working with quite a lot of smart people. The Work/Life balance is great. Flexible timings. The company is growing and has a bright future. If you are lucky or if you prove yourself, you can get to work on cutting-edge technologies. You get to interact/collaborate with some very smart and knowledgeable people working in the UK.

    Cons

Lack of good programming/development/Testing practices(or rather enforcement). Over reliance on engineers working in the UK. Some amount of bureaucracy. Some managers are not that motivated themselves and fail to motivate engineers in the team to keep going.

    Advice to Management

The interviewing procedures need to evolve. It is wrong to assume that only people from reputed colleges are good engineers. Get rid of the bureaucracy that does exists to some extent. Few very good engineers have left in the past because of that. Train, learn, try and match the standard of engineers working in the UK in order to reduce the reliance on them.

I have been working at Imagination Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The open environment amongst engineers together with the breadth of activity provides a technically exciting atmosphere. Technical discussions are easy and information can be sought from other parts of the company with no barrier. Any active interest is never discouraged. There are many able and skilled engineers. The new building is excellent, furnished to a high standard. The canteen provides good quality food with a lot of variety.

    Cons

The open culture between engineers is adapting to change due to expansion. The company has expanded rapidly and some of the infrastructure is still adapting. The expansion makes career paths somewhat unclear however it does provide opportunity.

    Advice to Management

As the company expands, be sure not to lose sight of the many great engineers working for you.
