Great place for graduate engineers to learn, bad place for experienced engineers to make a living.

    Hardware Design Engineer (Current Employee)
    Kings Langley, England (UK)

ProsIt's a great place for graduate engineers to learn a great deal in short time. Freshly graduated engineers can start writing RTL from day 1, while our Cambridge brethren won't let you come anywhere near RTL without a PhD and many years of experience.
Also, the company takes great pride in caring about the well-being of their employees: a good subsidised canteen, a ride-to-work scheme that allows you to lease a bicycle to go to work real cheap, stress management seminars, ...

ConsThe reason why they can allow fresh graduates to work on the hard things is that the experienced and talented people leave as soon as they realise that they're paid Highland wages while living in an area with London housing prices, and that salary and title progression are just a blurry promise at best and that the shares they give you as bonus (after completing three years) are worth nothing and plummet from year to year.
The reason why they offer a subsidised canteen and leased bicycles is because they're probably aware that their engineers can't afford a used car, or a decent flat or to feed their child on what they earn.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagers, you must be proud of your achievements! Just look at your Porsches, Mercedes and BMWs on the car park! Just don't forget that qualified labour has a price or you're going to lose them all. By the way, now that you're on a building frenzy, maybe you could build subsidised company dorms. With your engineers living on campus, it will be more easy for them to work even more unpaid overtime.

Have fun, I'm leaving soon. I finally found someone who values my skills and will double my salary. Double!

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Lots to say, don't know where to start

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsSome interesting projects to work on; hw and sw teams are closely collaborated; easy to commute to london; colourful sports and social activities.

Consrare promotion opportunities; strict hierarchy system; hard to step into international industrial discussion; depressingly managed; needs to be make huge personal efforts in order to be recognised.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not try to depress employees from time to time; give more constructive advices; bring harmony into the working environment.

    Nice environment, badly orginised

    Graduate Software Engineer (Current Employee)
    Kings Langley, England (UK)

ProsImagination is a nice environmenment to work in with flexible work hours. There are good engineers and you are in the heart of technology.

ConsLow salaries, very badly organised (it is a mess) probably because they have enjoyed a sudden growth. You either are lucky and fit or not. the flexible working hours turn out to be long hours...

Advice to Senior ManagementYour engineers is the company's value. Start treating them like this.

    Good but limited experience builder

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsMarket leading technologies in several different fields
Patient organisation - this is not a place where people get fired
Great experience builder for young or inexperienced
Engineering heaven - you'll be surrounded by amazing brain power in various fields

ConsSalaries completely out of tune with market - leaving IMG will make your salary jump substantially
Senior management is here to stay - so there is a strong glass ceiling to promotions
Literally everybody is an engineer - makes for very one-sided thinking
This is Hossein Yassaie's company - every single decision is made by him
Management often treats employees as dummies

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't underestimate employees - people are often a lot smarter than you think, and can easily see through management litany and smoke screens. You would be amazed what people can produce and contribute, if you only put a little faith in their ability. Salary levels desperately need adjustment.

Will look good on your CV, but mainly for financial reasons, not a long term career option

    Design Engineer (Current Employee)
    Kings Langley, England (UK)

ProsAdmittedly, IMG is a name that will stand out on your CV.
Working with the most advanced hardware, the best product in our target market.
A relaxed atmosphere in most teams.

    ConsSalary is quite uncompetitive.
    Bureaucracy and process
    Middle management can be clueless
Probably too many people working on the software

Advice to Senior ManagementSalaries should be reviewed more regularly.

Nice place to work but lacks monetary attraction.

    Engineer (Former Employee)
    Chepstow, Wales (UK)

ProsSome interesting software/chip design projects; friendly and professional people; slightly cheap living

ConsNot competitive salary; no recognition mechanism in place
Salary should reflect market rates and be increased. More responsibilities should be shared with other Engineers.
Share option is not worth, so should not be a selling point.

    Advice to Senior ManagementReview salary and compare against market rate;
