I have been working at InComm full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Well funded (not likely going out of business any time soon), resources for travel and communication with existing and potential customers, good office culture in Portland. The Portland group has strong technical skills, and generally are aligned with where things need to go to improve after years of being a startup / technical debt accrual. Has all of the standard "perks" associated with being a startup (snacks, catered lunch on Thursdays) and a very easy going office environment.

    Cons

Big mismatch in vision between Corporate (Atlanta) and Portland (Digital). Portland group is digital focused and has a hard time finding its identity sometimes. Difference in cultures reflected in compensation packages and recruiting strategies, which makes hiring difficult. Lack of accountability results in a lot of dead weight.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on a strong vision for what the company is, and how the Portland office fits into that vision. Be transparent with communication, and work on creating a culture of accountability to the organization and one another.

    I worked at InComm

    Pros

Great working environment, up to date with technology edge, good location, very competitive benefit package, good employee perks.
    Good leadership.

    Cons

Sometimes, I don't like vacation policy use it or loose it. It hard to plan long vacation; however, I understand that company wants everyone takes time off and avoid burn out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More emphases on person growth. It is a part of requirement on performance review but the messages get lost during the year.

I have been working at InComm full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly, fun, casual atmosphere. Get things done and have fun doing it.
    Smart/enthusiastic team members.
Great downtown location in Big Pink.
Technology group runs as a very flat organization, with a lot of autonomy, encouraged to try new things.
    Co-located, cross-functional agile teams.
    Focused on hiring "A-team" players

    Cons

Some interactions with the larger parent company can be slow/frustrating.
    Compensation lacks equity component.
If you're a "heads-down" kind of person, the open atmosphere can get distracting at times (requires headphones).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to hire the best and empower/trust them to get the job done!

I have been working at InComm full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The team here is fantastic. I work with a lot of intelligent and innovative developers who are constantly refining their skills. The business is growing rapidly and there is a lot of support from Atlanta (Corporate HQ). The payments space is evolving quickly and we are out ahead of the competition. We have a good age mix in the office and very good rapport. Also, the downtown location is great and allows for easy access to activities, food, and public transit.

    Cons

Sometimes the nature of the work requires me to stick around to solve Production issues but that's to be expected because it is Retail. Not a whole lot to complain about.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't lose the cultural identity in the Portland office. As we move to a more mature organization, when we start with stodgy methodologies and pull back on social events, people have alternatives. It hasn't happened but I've seen it happen far too many times.

I have been working at InComm

    Pros

Ample opportunity for growth and promotion across departments. If the right people are fighting for you, you can increase your pay substantially in a short amount of time. Great place to learn new skills and try out new roles.

    Cons

Can be an extremely hostile, unprofessional work environment. High trend of favoritism within departments that results in many unqualified employees getting promoted. Entrepreneurial spirit forces a "get it done at whatever cost" mentality which makes people defensive, combative and many times pushy with partners/customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it mandatory for every manager to undergo 360 coaching; discourage favoritism; hire from within first.
