    Pros

Department head, Manager and supervisor really backed me when I needed it. I had heard other people in the company didn't have the backing of the managerial teams in their department .

    Cons

To bad thy lost the contract I really wanted to stay with them.

    Pros

Decent tuition reimbursement program. Job mobility if you are interested in it. Friendly work environment where people work as a team to accomplish the mission.

    Cons

Can become stuck in their current ways of doing business and be unwilling to change how the business processes are structured to ensure better operational efficiency. This often led to territorial disputes between directorates and managers causing functions to be mis-allocated based on the reality of the enterprise architecture.

    Advice to Management

Need to have periodic reviews by outsiders to evaluate how the organization is structured and functionality is divided to provide recommendations on business process restructuring.

    Pros

Employer contributions to 401k. Held us on through govt furlough.

    Cons

Management is a bit detached from reality. Often more concerned with metrics rather than the actual quality of work.

    Advice to Management

listen to front-line supervisors. Business may be a numbers game, but if the underlying product is suffering then the numbers will suffer eventually and dramatically.

    Pros

Career Progression is fast for a dedicated worker. Management does take care of the top producers in one way or another and they do reward technical ability.

    Cons

On the contrary Cronyism and Nepotism are alive and well. On several instances I have been passed up for promotion due to unqualified people getting preferential treatment, this only depends on the section you work under.

    Advice to Management

Don't let personal relationships determine who will fill a position. This only leads to an awkward work situation and could cause the loss of an exceptional employee.

    Pros

    adequate pay, clean work environment.

    Cons

management top-heavy.."too many chiefs, not enough Indians"...

    Advice to Management

moot point now as Indyne was under-bid for their contract by another contractor.

    Pros

Benefits, generous and competitive pay scale, helps those who help themselves, lots of very personable people willing to work together and find solutions.

    Cons

There may be some favoritism, a little bit of nepotism, at least in the Lompoc area. People who are not very well known sometimes get overlooked despite their perseverance, persistence and enthusiasm.

    Advice to Management

Take educated risks on lesser known candidates rather than the bigger risk of hiring based on recommendation of someone's family or friend (which ends up being a bigger risk).

    Pros

A real sense of family, I enjoy the people. Senior Management were very protective of their people, which really made an impression on me. Another nice aspect is all the Directors made themselves very accessible to the average worker, you never felt like they were unapproachable.

    Cons

Entrenched was a word used to describe the industry as a whole, and this is true in every sense of the word. Not a reflection on the company so much, but what I believe has to do with the contract for bid environment. Politics is at the forefront, & is talked about very freely. I felt intimidated when I did agree with some viewpoints.

    Pros

The best health benefits package ever. Ultra-safety as it is located on military base. The best cubicle furniture I have ever seen. Fairly good pay.

    Cons

The attitude is to keep the status quo. No forward thinking or outside the box thinking. Software design is not considered, and is a mere after-thought, if that. Mentality is closed-minded and not progressive at all. Typical DOD government work.

    Advice to Management

Please make an attempt to require discipline and foster creativity in software development. You might want to educate yourself independently about current software best practices. A masters degree doesn't automatically guarantee an appreciation or mastery of a subject matter.
