I have been working at Independent Pharmacy full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Customers are nice to get to know.
    Hours are steady and normal.
    Medical Related Field
    Benefits
    Co-workers can be nice

    Cons

Pay does not reflect the amount of work stress
    Responsibility vs pay rate,
    Insurance companies are a hassle
    Customers can be extremely difficult
No room for error, you are responsible for the patient's safety just as much as the Pharmacist

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay the people who turn the company's metaphorical gears for the work they do to keep you making your salary. Understand that the field itself is saturated with smart people who only have a certificate to their name. Therefore, one must weed out the upper echelon and promote a proper work environment for them, and therefore you, to succeed. This means paying them what they deserve. Not asking for pearls just not peanuts.

    Pros

Great company vision and admirable goals with many employees that had been with the company for a long time. Stability is a plus

    Cons

Tough to implement new ideas, IT was difficult to work with. Tendency to over-analyze and not move forward with necessary changes

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work helping independent pharmacies remain competitive as the industry is very tough for them to remain in business

I have been working at Independent Pharmacy

    Pros

close to home, forml dress not required, possibilty to arrange a convenient schedule

    Cons

not enough help/support, not compensated for the work that is performed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your pharmacists as professionals. They are not family members/cashiers/stock boys. They studied (very hard!) for 6 years, earned their degrees and should be treated as the professionals that they are. Just because they are not working in the corporate world for you and it is a private pharmacy, does not mean they are to be treated in a less than respectful way.
