The locations & its transfer policy

Deputy Manager (Current Employee) Chaksu (India)

ProsAt the entry level, it has a nice pay package. This company is among top 100 company's in the fortune 500 list by sales.

ConsThe locations are really tough, Many are unknown to even the local people. The location in-charges still behave in the most autocratic ways & are not even aware of the term "self esteem" of employees. They are least trained managers available on the earth as far as decision making & analyzing the situation is concerned. Too many persons are posted at a location. Most of the people have very less or negligible work to do, they put hindrance in day to day working by creating issues out of non-issues. Most of the critical instructions are verbal not on paper which leaves an employee to be manipulated after. They don't have transparent policy even for core jobs leave aside employee welfare.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe management should make the transparent, workforce friendly , effective policies( work, work culture) & get them implemented as is stated. The employee loses 90% of its potential if he stays with more than 2 years with this comapny.

    Quite a good experience

    Internee (Former Employee) Guwahati (India)

ProsThere are various good things working at this place. Firstly, the job security is the most significant factor. Then there are some time bound promotions within and around the recruited scale of pay. Secondly, the work culture is good, having fun, get together with friends and colleagues once in a month or so.

ConsBeing a Govt. organization, the career growth is not that much. Perks are same even for a hard-working employee, an average employee and and also for a below average grade employee. Some who wants to learn new technologies and want to apply the same in real life situations in the industry does not have that much fruitful experience.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Not as expected

Senior Officer (Current Employee) New Delhi (India)

ProsWork life balance, decent salary, good benefits.

Consvery unorganized kind of work, lack of coordination among various departments, highly non-technical job, frustrating HR department, absolutely no training, have to learn on your own, follow up culture

Advice to Senior Managementplease bring system for working.. and stop this "FOLLOW-UP CULTURE OF IOCL" ..
Anyway, no one owns this company so nothing gonna change for sure.

    – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

ConsSecurity, innovative and flexible work culture, Acceptable salaries, Good place to learn and implement your engineering knowledge

Advice to Senior ManagementDrease the number of transfers. Give more importance to employee preferred locations, Rethink on salary

Stagnant in terms of pay package ....Excruciating in terms of work life and policies towards employees.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsGovernment Job.
Company offers good pay package, perks and benefits.. ( apparently till you actually work here) .
Seems to be good company to work with (till you spend some time here) .

ConsAnnual growth in terms of Money is just 3% .( Inflation rate in India ~10%) ...??
Company has random and ludicrous transfer policy across locations , verticals and functions such that you land becoming jack of all but master of none over spending appreciable years of your career just to realize that finally you are not good enough for any other employer and have to continue here forcibly.......may be one of the reason for low Attrition Rate in Indian Oil.
De facto "Worst HR" deadened towards employee needs....

    Not Good

ASSISTANT MANAGER (RETAIL SALES) (Former Employee) Delhi (India)

ProsResponsibilities, power, status. IOC will give you a chance to groom. For most of profiles...typical sarkari naukri.

ConsLow pay, red tapism, no value of good work, stereotype job, babu culture, very high sycophancy, high stress in sales, frequent transfers. IOC recruits best engineers, puts them in various useless roles till they are good for no other company....

Advice to Senior ManagementYou need a big change.....

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
