I worked at Indian Railways full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The best reasons to work here is we can improve our technical skills to some extent.

    Cons

1.Coming to Compensation severe politics were played only specific persons gets hikes and promotions. There is no value for hard work. They wont even recognize people who do hard work.
2.Worst salaries for freshers its fine but even after gaining experience and working hard also there are no increment in salaries atleast wont pay based on market standards.
    3.worst shifts,break timings are very less,work pressure,hard targets,no leaves,no proper holidays.
3.Even they resign becz of dissatisfaction no proper hike mangement not at all bothers about employee salary concern. They dont even discuss regarding any issues with employees. There is no proper exit interview.
4.No proper Managers.Waste resource managers they wont set goals for employees at the starting of the year.Besides the performance of employee they give rating what ever they want.complete politics whoever will be close or do favour for them they get good rating and hikes. Please change all the worst managers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No proper transport they come at what ever time they want,Worst managers, very odd shift timings and breaks. Please recognize the people who do hard work and pay them the better atleast no need best.Consider the concerns of employees on priority, employees are not expecting platinum awards atleast recognize their hardwork with some better pay.

I have been working at Indian Railways full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

One of the biggest Govt. organisation in the World. The lifeline for all kind of transportation. Most particularly, can serve for maximum no of people of India.

    Cons

Like other govt. organisation capabilities of Non-gazetted staff are not recognized but fruit is relished by the Gazetted Section. Modernization process is a bit slow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Computerization & modernization may be given top priority. Promotional avenue may be revised from mere seniority and bookish competency to competency in terms of job assigned to a staff whether non-gazetted or gazetted. Must look for more revenue earnings to serve the people better without putting pressure to their pocket in terms of TAX.
