    Pros

Great Work environment. Across the spectrum research in cutting edge areas of machine learning, statistical NLP and lots of collaborations.

    Cons

Mostly theoretical projects. Not much industrial collaboration scope though you can connect to lots of professors doing excellent research in your area elsewhere. Takes very long to get thesis approved.

    Pros

World class education. Opportunity to interact with the best statisticians in the country. Great placements (both jobs and research)

    Cons

Since only the best students are selected for the academic programs, a moderately smart student with relatively poor grades may be overlooked.

I have been working at Indian Statistical Institute as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

You learn a lot..There is no restriction to learning here. If you can cope up, you can take more than one project here.
The frequent workshops, courses and invited lectures will give you a world view of research..

    Cons

Except the Institute Internship (advertised by ISI for applications,i.e., not by mailing the Professors), no typical stipend system is there. Also, the stipend amount may be increased a bit more (like 7000-7500 INR in IITs).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stipend system should be there for students working under the Professors in different projects. Also, the stipend amount may be increased a bit more (like 7000-7500 INR in IITs).

I have been working at Indian Statistical Institute full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I am enrolled as master's degree student with Indian Statistical Institute. The environment is great and students get an enhanced exposure to what research is. At the institute students are taught to work with many types of tools, which provides them enough competency to gain formidable positions and designations with the possible employers.

    Cons

The courses offered are totally focused on research stuff. At times proper and correct interpretation of things become a bit difficult.
