    Pros

The university is Christ centered and the way they handle their employees and students reflect those values. Part time teaching opportunities are available as an Adjunct Faculty and with the right experience and education it can be a very rewarding engagement.

    Cons

Difficult to transition from PT to FT.

    Pros

Teaching with IWU as adjunct faculty provides for lots of flexibility. This teaching position allows me to help adult students earn their degree while working full-time and having a family. The curriculum is provided so the time commitment is less than you would expect. I teach both online and at a couple of the satellite campuses. The face to face interaction in the classroom is rewarding. The technology used for the online learning culture is not bad. It is refreshing to be able to share my faith in the classroom and know that it is expected, not frowned upon. A great university with a wonderful mission.

    Cons

Class sizes have been getting very large lately which is time consuming if you teach properly. Doesn't pay great now that the commitment has increased. When the classes were smaller, the pay seemed to match the time commitment better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you are going to continue with such large classes you need to pay your instructors to reflect the extra work.

    Pros

Great vacation benefits (4-5 weeks per year when you combine wellness days)
    10% toward retirement
    Decent healthcare plan
Not overly quick to let people go
Work hour expectations are generally reasonable

    Cons

I have worked with IWU for 7 years and have few complaints. Right now we are going through a crunch time due to economy and it has been difficult all around, especially for faculty and some employees working with traditional students. Salaries are mid-range. However, they are not as high as for-profit colleges or some private colleges.
