I worked at Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Service full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Easy-going atmosphere, but that's about it. There is a pretty nice break room and conference areas, and the office equipment wasn't too old. People usually don't stay late, and if you have a job where you need to work after-hours, the office gives you a laptop. Flexible schedules depending on position.

    Cons

Unfriendly co-workers, no office events/parties, and very little communication from management to employees. Half the office was laid off without much warning, and the rest of the company is going downhill as it "streamlines" its operations.

I worked at Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Service full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Terrific colleagues, free coffee, low IQ work (this is actually a double edged sword), cheap gym memberships, convenient location;

    Cons

Standard procedures are non existent as new rules made up on the fly.
The odor of politics, favoritism, and jealousy fills the air in most departments.
Work is extremely low IQ (again, a double edged sword) and tedious.
Pay grade is low relative to competitors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Good luck.

I worked at Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Service full-time

    Pros

Good if you are in actuarial science.

    Cons

-Manager and department heads treat you like another cost company has to spend to get the work that needs to be done.
-High volume of work but no training provided.
-Too much office politics. Incompetent people are promoted if they had managed to stay for a long time and then act like they can rule over new employees.
    - Political performance reviews that favors upper managements.
    - Odor of favouritism is everywhere..
    - no opportunity for promotion
    - too many people working in a factory like setting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

needs more competition among upper managements.

I have been working at Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Service as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    Some training
    Company reputation is decent
    Work place facilities

    Cons

Seems to be a high output no care for staff enviroment
    No team work
Staff can under perform, be back from late breaks constantly, bicker and nothing will be done

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start caring about your staff! Organise fun events so its not just a 8:30 - 5 enviroment. Pull into line those that need it as it drags everybody else down. Career plan
