I worked at IndyMac Bancorp full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Not much at all. There were some decent managers. However, the kill or be killed culture usually only left managers that supported and contributed to a terrible culture and environment

    Cons

Over worked, too many hats, underpaid, under appreciated, most promotions were given to incompetent friends of management, horrible leadership, terrible culture, high turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

clear the ranks of dictators and hire managers that are true leaders and motivators, people who have some hands on experience

IndyMac was proactive doing loan modifications before "loan modifications" became a thing.

I worked at IndyMac Bancorp full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I was part of a select team of 12 out of 5000 employees to head-up loan modifications for our current customers. We worked 4 days a week (Friday Sat and Sun off), completed about 60-75 loans a month and pulled in 10k-15k/month.
open, fun, opportunity, not so corporate.
Best corporate job I have had -

    Cons

I really don't have a bad thing to say. I left the company 2 months before the real-estate bubble burst on an offer from one of my customer's (IndyMac borrower doing a loan mod) to come work for his company. I was making great money at IndyMac (150k = salary of 30k + commissions), but quadrupling (4x) my current base salary coupled with bonuses and all the other goodies was too good to not take.

    Pros

At the beginning we were LoanWorks and it was an easy going company.. the move to a BANK changed the structure of the company however the easiness lingered and became more to the corp entity that is was.

    Cons

Seemed like there was much moving around...Oh... I forgot... the FDIC walked in and we were put in Receivership, UGH... On my Birthday even.

I worked at IndyMac Bancorp full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great vending machines and free coffee. Got paid. Hours were easy. Training was thorough and informative. Big building. Lots of parking available.

    Cons

Extremely depressing dealing with default mortgage customers. Foreclosure was the toughest to dish out. Working weekends, especially sundays, makes for a horrible day. Who wants a call during church hours? I had plenty of those (or so they say). Supervisors always acted like they were gods gift to telecommunications.
