Good company - with great benefits

Finance Executive (Former Employee) Singapore (Singapore)

ProsI enjoyed the people I worked with. It was a friendly and fun atmosphere and I actually enjoyed going into work each morning. Staff get to travel together to other countries as part of team building. There seems to be a strong brand identity within the company.

ConsLimited room for growth, many staff have been working in the same position for many years

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Risk adverse but stable company that treats its people with respect

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsConsiderable autonomy in role; Opportunity to travel; Respects individuals; Supportive of work-life balance; Pays well; Stable; Highly ethical; Safety conscious;

ConsExxon heritage - process oriented and risk adverse; Many managers, but very few leaders; Aging workforce who are stuck in ways; Puppet to shareholders - company is being held back; Slow career progression

Advice to Senior ManagementTrust your people (not just "leaders") - treat people as grown ups; Hire youth; Make decisions

    Best Retirement Home Ever!

Operations Assistant (Former Employee) Singapore (Singapore)

ProsIt is a boon for those who resist changes, who do not want to be outstanding, love office politics. And those who are already retiring, since wages (except CPF contributions) do not change as you age. In case under the modular skill systems, you get into better wage bands as you move around different departments to gain more skills.

ConsIf you don't know how to play office politics, you're a goner. The first few lessons that I have learned is this "Take care of yourself first, don't bother helping others", "Don't change anything, know what the customer want".

Whilst the company has received multiple WSH awards, the Health part is misleading, since the canteen does not fall under Infineum but Exxonmobil. Catering always get the order wrong, unhygienic food, complains goes unheeded.

Advice to Senior ManagementMr. Xavier, I do have a headache working in your plant. (Response to your 2012 January question)

Feed back from the old timers, it's better to have an "Ang Moh" (Caucasian) in charge.

Good company to have on your resume

    Chemical Engineering Co-op (Former Employee)

ProsA lot of exposure to different aspects of the company throughout the variety of the projects assigned. .

ConsYou might get stuck with projects that are useless in terms of gaining valuable experience, matter of luck. You are valued for your personality rather than the quality of your work.

    Pleasant company

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Oxford, England (UK)

ProsGlobal, mid size scale allows you to work on different things if you want to, generally cares for its employees, pays well, good job security

ConsSmall size and long tenure of existing people can limit/slow opportunities for progression. Cost containment is becoming a pain in the neck, salami-slicing small things all the time when they shoudl be investing in growth.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou're doing most of the right things, hearts are in the right place, and there are a lot worse out there... get the balance between cost-shaving and investment right

A very fair and successful company - treats its people well.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Oxford, England (UK)

ProsGlobal, highly ethical, respects those that work there, good degree of autonomy and trust, safe environment, variety in role, good development and high levels of professionalism, the Company is performing well.

ConsBusiness to business - so doesn't have a visible brand. Could do things more quickly, but this is off-set by doing things right. A very stable organisaiton.

Advice to Senior ManagementCould move the Company forward at a quicker pace. Continue to focus and respect those that work at Infineum. Keep the supportive culture.

Good place to learn new technologies but you may not have the opportunity to grow career-wise.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat colleagues. Small enough to not feel lost. Good opportunity to learn new technologies.

ConsCronyism, lack of leadership in certain areas (some areas are fine), mature industry, flat organization = little room for growth. Little or no flex time.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpper management out of touch with front-line.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
