Fantastic workplace for start of career

    Technology Analyst (Current Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsGreat place to start the career with a world class training in Mysore. Great Infrastructure facilities and good learning experience throughout training and in projects. Teaches a lot about the corporate world.

ConsPay package and pay revisions are some cons. Work-Life balance depends on the clients for which projects are executed.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Decent organization with number of opportunities. But needs an overhaul!

    Technology Lead (US) (Current Employee)
    Northbrook, IL

ProsIts a huge organization with lot of potential and opportunities. It has earned lot of respect globally and has lot of reputed customers. Its pros are as follows-
    1. They have built awesome infrastructures for their employees.
    2. Talented workforce.
    3. Work life balance in some projects.
    4. Its a brand name.

ConsBut I still feel that their primary focus is just the growth of business rather than being good at what they do and what they offer. Competition is tough and the market is driven by innovation and quality. Small start-ups are doing far better and awesome work than what we are doing at Infosys. I understand that with bigger organizations there are associated challenges as well. But if Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Can do it then Indian software giants can also do it.

Few more cons are listed below-
    1. Middle management is not motivating.
    2. Lot of bureaucracy.
    3. Relationship is more important than focus.
    4. Right skill is not mapped with right role or job.

Good if you know how to handle 'Red Tape'.

    Mobile Applications Developer (Former Employee)
    Northbrook, IL

    Pros- Awesome Co-Workers.
    - Good place to learn new skills.
    - Having a good manager makes life relatively more easy.

Cons- Long Working Hours (60+) with no over time!
    - Too much red tape... mostly biased against contracters & employees.
    - No growth in company if you do not write mandatory tests every year...feels almost like being in school!
    - Bad Work/Life balance.

Advice to Senior Management- Do not agree to everything to that the clients asks of you just to retain the project. A day has only 24 hours and we do not have teams of unlimited resources.
    - Do not give false promises especially when you know you will not fulfill it from the start.

Good company to start your career with, especially if you are from India.

    Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee)
    Northbrook, IL

ProsOne of the top IT Services company in the world with a overall good reputation. Amazing training program for entry-level recruits (equivalent to a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science in the US!) Great for people who are passionate about IT as a profession.

ConsBeing a huge company (100K+ employees worldwide) there are way too many lengthy processes. The appraisal process is one of the worst as you will have to compete with co-workers located in India (where the work culture is completely different and people work way more than they should be). No concept of work-life balance among people working at onsite (this carries from the offshore work culture) and as a result, managers expect you to work pretty much around the clock and often over weekends. If you are not happy with your assigned project or industry it is almost impossible to get a different one without being obnoxiously persistent. No diversity at the workplace whatsoever (since it is an Indian company majority of people at onsite locations are Indian, therefore the same unhealthy and non-inclusive work culture thrives). Eligibility for promotion depends solely on availability of positions in higher roles and your certification track record (yes, they have a internal certification program in technical and domain areas which are mandatory to pass if you want to be eligible for promotion) and even if you are eligible you might not be promoted if the company decides to not have any promotions in a given year and/or promotions will happen only in certain locations (i.e. onsite/offshore).

Advice to Senior ManagementAppraisal process needs to be rethought; people working at onsite should not be compared with those working at offshore. More emphasis needs to be given to recruiting people from diverse backgrounds.
