Pros
Great ethos! Great people to work with...Visionary leadership. Recent re org has made a lot of difference to the agility of the organisation.
Cons
Compensation not the best. Large company woes - lot of processes to be followed.
Pros
brand name, nice campus, large clients
Cons
inflexible in deal making, no killer instinct
Advice to Senior Management
dont be scared. just do it
Pros
You have a prominent brand behind you. Infosys marketing machine is working very efficiently. You don't have to explain people what Infosys is.
Cons
Bureaucracy, Bureaucracy, Bureaucracy. Yes, I do understand that it is not an easy task to manage 100K employees. But you don't have to control each and every single one.
Pros
a beautiful campus , good gym and food court facilities , chance to work with 'big' clients, excellent education and research department
Cons
either you should not bother at all about being recognized or you should be exceptionally good so that you get good appraisal review and get recognized and rewarded. Even if you are single-handedly doing work equivalent to that of 3 people, you will not get recognised unless you have made a good "impression" on "client".
Advice to Senior Management
Client is definitely important but employee is the one who moves the wheel , do not forget that. employee is an asset
Pros
It's a huge company and so has well defined processes for everything - HR, Finance, Service Desk etc. Every employee service from filling tax to resigning process is well defined and automated.
Infosys has huge number of clients and keeps adding new everyday. So many clients mean lot of technologies in varied environments - which is a heaven for learning. Infosys have quite a few big shot clients which means lot of cutting edge technologies. Infosys has a very string traing and knowledge mangement base so if you're willing enough to learn new and upcoming technologies you can do it here.
Cons
The working hour policy of 9.15 hours/day and policies to mark one down in annual salary reviews because of falling short of 9.15 hrs/day, not clearing internal certifications in time etc. The policy of 9.15 hours/day is so strictly followed that employees who fall short of that mark have to compensate by sacrificing their earned leaves. Sick leave is limited to 1 every quarter which is illogical. Too much workplace politics to deal with on a day to day basis and favouritism is very common amongst managers during annual appraisal process.
Advice to Senior Management
Employee hostile and illlogical policies need to change. Workplace politics and favouritism should be abolished.
Pros
Top mgmt Ethics are exception and consistent though after NRN, there has been some flaws. Top mgmt Ethics are exception and consistent though after NRN, there has been some flaws. Top mgmt Ethics are exception and consistent though after NRN, there has been some flaws
Cons
Middle management leaves a lot to desire. Middle management leaves a lot to desire. Middle management leaves a lot to desire. Middle management leaves a lot to desire.
Advice to Senior Management
ok
Pros
Good work culture, great ambience, great communal facilities, awsome process structure in any administrative activity, great support system to huge number of employees.
Cons
Change in policies with respect of employee growth and break and mould them whenever under pressure. Not a good overall package offered in terms of money. Weak middle level management and their definition of work. Although aim is there for technical advancement of employees, but the model just doesn't seem to work. Flow of information across levels of management. Policy of trying to keep everyone happy at any cost. Expectations set to clients at hihger management level at the offset is utterly indianised and needs improvement as quickly possible. Scarcity of people who give solutions and scarcity of people at high level who challenge.
Advice to Senior Management
The model is not working, I would say simply not working. According to me a company runs because of its employees and their commitment. Try and identify the nack each and every employee have and groom them under able guidance in those lines. I am very sure that majority of infoscions work in roles and lines which don;t suit or coincide with their instincts. Just by setting a program where people appear for certifications will not uplift their consultancy skills, what is required here is giving challenges to them to solve problems, make them feel important and part of the bigger organization. Small or big, if they solve problems, give value to them. Leadership is another area where the company needs a revolution.
Pros
Taking on the likes of Accenture/IBM/Delloitte while trying to shrug off the typical indian outsourcing image is going to be difficult, but Infosys is going strong.
Cons
Meritocracy is still far from near. Indian companies still count number of years as their progression benchmark, rather than skills. Also rules of engagement is different for an non-Indian vs an Indian.
Advice to Senior Management
Move towards high value consulting with real consulting talent. Product/licencing revenues will be key to growth plans, given that the as-is growth model means linear increase in employees, meaning no improvement in margin, and increased inflexibility during downturns.
Pros
good culture to work , good offices
Cons
lesser pay packages, need to improve
Advice to Senior Management
policy reviews need to be faster and periodical, there are polcies which are too old at this momenet, stock options needs to be considered
Pros
Well recognised in market and ranked as number one employer
Employee friendly policies
Flexible in taking care of employees personal needs
Process oriented company
Cons
Career progression not very well defined. Promotions and appraisals are not very fair processes. Communication from management not very transparent
Advice to Senior Management
They should be more transparent in communicating the changes to employees. Recently policies are more rigid and enforce stressful working environment for employees
