I worked at Infosys full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Big employer with good benefits and job security

    Cons

    - lack of visibility into who to speak to for mentor-ship, guidance etc. - Salary structure is tricky as it is attached to a role as per new Global Compensation Structure which means you might end up getting a different salary than the one listed on your offer letter if you do not get the project they originally recruited you for. - All admin/accounting related processes are executed in India, hence delays for US based employees. - Not enough clarity about how to get other projects, who to speak to for projects. No process for this. - No travel policy for consulting. Most consultants are from India and are based at a particular client location for many years. Most projects are either support of development. Not many real consulting opportunties.

    Advice to Management

    - Policies for US based employees need to be clearly different and communicated. I am not asking for discrimination but employees travelling from India have different personal life and priorities than employees based in the US. US based employees are not going back to India...!! Hence the project placement should be done accordingly.

I have been working at Infosys full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Multiple domains Great team members Benefits comparable with the best (in US)

    Cons

Bureaucratic setup, complicated and convulated policies that some times make getting things done more difficult than they are supposed to be Many people are just too happy where they are, doing what they are required minimally to keep sitting and maintaining status quo. they dont like being challenged, they dont like being pushed for any thing. There is this interia of statying in the comfort zone.

    Advice to Management

A lot of people have grown too quick too fast with this organization during the boom, which is nice. I guess management should also make way for people who have demonstarted time and again that they could be the next leader. All you need is to find them, keep them and groom them.

I have been working at Infosys full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Generally good benefits in comparison to most software services providers of Indian origin.

    Cons

Opportunities you get is purely a function of being at the right place at the right time. The career growth is stagnant unless you are in good books of top management.

I worked at Infosys full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Talented people, excellent management. There are plenty of opportunities and flexibility in moving around. India dev centers were more fun than being at US. Plenty of learning opportunities.

    Cons

very competitive, if you are not growing further in titles, people consider you not a good fitment. Technology people should be given adequate respect. somehow the culture of "good-talker" is best has been ingrained in the DNA.

I worked at Infosys full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

strong internal resources to learn good culture for Indian employees ( cannot speak for other nationalities) fast growth in your career ( not salary wise) if you perform relatively better transparency

    Cons

salaries are pretty low even though they get decent billing from client no flexibility in location, nature of work they want employees to leave after few years, so that they can hire fresh talent for cheap you are expected to work atleast 60hrs in a week, you dont get paid for additional hours appraisal system / CRR rating system is always rigged (manipulated) big bureaucratic nonsense like a govt they try to impose ethics on employees but never apply them ( Hippocratic) they can/will destroy employee's career to satisfy client

    Advice to Management

see where you were before and where you are now... and ask yourself " I should have listened to employees"

I have been working at Infosys as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a great place to work because of the different industries that the company serves. You get a lot of exposure to different technologies in diverse industries. It is excellent for someone starting off in the IT space. Learned to implement solutions that meet the customer requirements using my software development skills and technical expertise

    Cons

The pay is not commensurate with experience. Management in India called all the shots. They would not listen to suggestions from me even though I was hired to manage Partnership Relationships here in the Americas.

    Advice to Management

Promote growth opportunities and increase pay if you want to hold your employees
