I have been working at Ingersoll Rand

    Pros

Benefits are on par with most companies of this size, but nothing to set them apart. Salary is so so. It's the great people and experiences I've had that have kept me there for so long.

    Cons

They have a tendency to ride those that work and just watch those that don't. There is a serious lack in chain of command. They are a few years into their lean transformation with Ingersoll Rand, which has them almost to the point that they were functioning under American Standard. Not that anyone of importance will ever admit to it...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to yourselves. You have actually said some intelligent things. You just fail to follow through on them.

I have been working at Ingersoll Rand (more than a year)

    Pros

You wont be bored, they will keep you busy. They reward longevity ( meaning 15+ years) and they take very good care of those long term employees with different benefits including pension. Some business sectors offer more opportunities for advancement than others.

    Cons

There is a lot of talk about work-life balance but everyone is too busy to take any vacation time. Salary is about average but on the low side of average. They don't like new employees or new processes. The company is very decentralized so there isn't a company culture per se, just a bunch of smaller companies carrying on the same way they have for 30 + years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be afraid of change or of new employees they can bring a lot to the table. Often these new employees have more experience than the mid level managers.

I have been working at Ingersoll Rand full-time

    Pros

there are great leaders and a very stable places to work. Provides wide variety of opportunities to grow.

    Cons

work life balance is not too great. time off policies are also not great here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need the management to focus on work life balance which they are already doing but to put more focus on it. Time off policies needs to be revisited.

I worked at Ingersoll Rand full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fellow staff were intelligent and a pleasure to work with.

    Cons

Uncaring managers with one thing in mind.....their own future with the company not caring who is hurt on the way including taking credit for other staff members ideas & creativity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at those that you assume are doing their own jobs when in fact they are taking credit for others hard work.

Former Contractor - Customer Service Representative in Bridgeton, MO

I worked at Ingersoll Rand as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Casual dress and spacious office work environment. leader was great. support staff however were passive aggressive and immature in leadership styles. I was very surprised and put off by the lack of respect demonstrated towards temps.

    Cons

No standardized training. Very hit or miss coaching. Temps don't even know what you don't know. I have never worked under such conditions. It was very apparent during training, that person was newly promoted and their uncertainty translated into being very curt and passive aggressive. Like a little kid playing boss.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consistent training and onboarding if you're expecting consistent level of customer service. Don't tell temp..don't ask me anything. Or you should know that. Criticize individuals in ear shot of them. Literally one desk away. Very unprofessional, passive aggressive and unproductive leadership/ coaching style.
When you do take initiative to be proactive then you're met with why are you doing that. Why do you need access to that info.
