    Advice to Management

Need the management to focus on work life balance which they are already doing but to put more focus on it. Time off policies needs to be revisited.

    Pros

Fellow staff were intelligent and a pleasure to work with.

    Cons

Uncaring managers with one thing in mind.....their own future with the company not caring who is hurt on the way including taking credit for other staff members ideas & creativity.

    Advice to Management

Look at those that you assume are doing their own jobs when in fact they are taking credit for others hard work.

    Pros

Casual dress and spacious office work environment. leader was great. support staff however were passive aggressive and immature in leadership styles. I was very surprised and put off by the lack of respect demonstrated towards temps.

    Cons

No standardized training. Very hit or miss coaching. Temps don't even know what you don't know. I have never worked under such conditions. It was very apparent during training, that person was newly promoted and their uncertainty translated into being very curt and passive aggressive. Like a little kid playing boss.

    Advice to Management

Consistent training and onboarding if you're expecting consistent level of customer service. Don't tell temp..don't ask me anything. Or you should know that. Criticize individuals in ear shot of them. Literally one desk away. Very unprofessional, passive aggressive and unproductive leadership/ coaching style.
When you do take initiative to be proactive then you're met with why are you doing that. Why do you need access to that info.

    Pros

Company has some great benefits and a flexible work environment, which is nice. However, much of your ability to take advantage of the benefits will depend on your manager. Many policies are implemented at varying levels depending on management, so as long as you have a supportive manager, you can really have a great work/life balance no matter what the work load because you have the ability to work when/how you work best.

    Cons

They tend to run super lean, which means you will be over-worked much of the time. You really have to look out for yourself. Everyone is trying to climb the corporate ladder, so be aware!

I used to Love working for my company until IR bought it. There is even less communication than there used to be. Quality is a joke. Supervisors don't have ANY clue on how to interact with employees without berating or belittling them.

    Pros

The paycheck is great, especially if there are two in the household with jobs.

    Cons

Everything else is just stressor after stressor. Quality is a big deal in an all employee meeting, until the end of the meeting.

    Advice to Management

Actually listen to hourly employees. Your management team is blowing smoke up your rear. You have sexist and racist supervisors that get shuffles around from department to department instead of getting rid of them.

    Pros

Great fast paced environment, always friendly people. Compensation and benefits are good. Room for advancement. Good Overtime always available.

    Cons

Can tend to be micromanaged. A lot of corporate reviews and follow up, but not so much that it is annoying.

    Pros

The company is big so there are many opportunities that you can move around.

    Cons

The management is a joke. Those guys are hypocrites and they don't even try to hide it. I think most employees know about it and that's why the employees are not working hard and that's why Ingersoll Rand, though is very big, is still a screwed up company.

One example is that the company has a strict policy to control the flight expense: only when the continuous flying time is 10 hours or more can you fly business class - basically meaning that you can't take business class for flight from US to Europe. And of course it says this policy applies to EVERY employee.

But if you have a chance to look at the flights taken by those senior VPs: all senior VPs simply ignore this policy and fly business class even it's a domestic flight. The CEO of Ingersoll Rand China flies EVERY flight in business class even the flight hour is only one hour.
One employee, who knows those details told me like this: 9 out of 10 executives take business class whenever they want. And the last one doesn't take business class because he has a private jet.
Well, if the company simply tells the employees that because those guys are senior VP/executives they can take business class. That's fine. But no, these guys told employees: oh, we've got to cut cost, it's for the benefit of the company. And they think employees won't know what they do?

    Advice to Management

The top management needs to be replaced.
The current company culture is crap.

    Pros

Benefits unmatched by the competition. Plenty of overtime if you like it. Climate controlled facility.

    Cons

Direction of their future unknown. Lack of functions that would enable employees some sense of enjoyment: ie: Christmas parties, discount group rates for sporting events or Carowinds Seniority means nothing, you're just a number.

    Advice to Management

Confidence in their ability to recognize employees contributions to the company are shot. Placing new hires in first shift positions and by-passing off-shift employees with years of service, keeping people locked in place is very frustrating. In the manufacturing world you put in your time to get a day job and when you do and get pushed off your shift, not bumped and are told to live with it no matter how it effects your home life is a little too much to take.
