Current Employee – been working at Ingles Markets part-time for less than a year

Pros – The Co-Workers are very nice and you will learn that while it is a job there, it is also a community and you can have fun there.

Cons – Crooked Management, some members of the management like to pick favorites and will allow one employee to do something but write others up for it. They have very low pay. When I started, I was getting 2 days a week (11 hours a week) eventually that went up to 3 days and soon 4-5 when we started loosing some people. That was when I felt that my job gave acceptable pay but recently even under a new manager, they are hiring more people and cutting everybody's hours. I am now down to 3-4 days a week and if this keeps going I am sure I will have a few 2 day weeks.

Advice to Senior Management – When employees of a store contact the Corporate number, do not tell them what they want to hear and ignore them, investigate into what they are saying. Also quit allowing your managers to hire so many people. It may help the unemployment rate but it doesn't help the rest of us survive and pay bills.

Pros – They work well with your schedule, and they work you around school or another job.

Cons – Management is not very organized. The people in charge never really seem to be on the same page.

Advice to Senior Management – They need more effecient and up to date methods for training, managing, and all other aspects of running a business.

Current Employee – been working at Ingles Markets full-time for more than 7 years

Pros – If you show up on time, do your job to the best of your ability you will have a job. Unlike some reviews, this is one of the most layed back easy going companies to work for. If you are lazy or want everything for no work in return then you will not get anything in return. There is something called common sense that alot of people that complain about ingles do not have. My time here has been like any other job. DO YOUR JOB AND KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT its so simple!!!! You have show respect to co workers and management, They do treat people equall as long as they do what is expected of them to do. I.E YOUR JOB!!! Have enjoyed my time with this company

Cons – Low pay is the only negative I have with Ingles, but this is a grocery store not a doctors office. You can't expect to pay every bag boy $15.00 and turn a profit.

Advice to Senior Management – Don't put up with the " infectious spores" for employees. There's to many people trying to screw this company into thinking they work and do the work proper.

Cons – They did not like to give anybreaks while I was there, I remember a couple of days we did not have a break, one day did not have lunch.

Advice to Senior Management – Start being better organized with break times and lunches, or you will have lots of turn over in the cheese room. Management needs to comunicate better with ALL employees not just some.

Cons – Management can be a hassle at times
Lack of communication between managers
My evaluations have been filled out multiple times but never get sent to corporate to be evaluated for me to be eligible for a raise or promotion

Advice to Senior Management – Please get managers on the right page

Pros – the people are nice and i love shopping there. they have a wonderful selection and great people.

Cons – for a company that brags about being American owned they sure do not treat their employees right. low pay, no raises and everyone is part time so they do not have to give you any benefits.

Cons – Where can I begin first they give you enough work for three people and they wanted it done by a certain time with no overtime. I tell you not to work off the clock but they tell you to do what ever it takes to get this work done and not go over your hours. Ever since Ingles Senior died upper management do not care about there employees .

Advice to Senior Management – 15 years 15 years I gave my heart and soul to this company and they let me go for using coupons. Take care of your employees that gave there heart and soul to your company and quit treating them as they are not a person

Pros – -Great front end co-workers (cashiers, baggers)
-Very flexible with hours/granting days off requested
-Learned a lot about getting great savings on groceries

Cons – -Too many employees promoted and not receiving pay raise for 3+ months. (bookkeeper, full time, night stock)
-All the "professionalism" of the management is fake
-My store manager would not promote me after working 3 yrs because he couldn't "promote within"
-High stress level doing books and on top of that the managers disappear and you're left running the front.
-Getting a raise was like pulling teeth.

Advice to Senior Management – I genuinely love the people I worked with.. as people. NOT coworkers. All it took at Ingles Markets, was for a new employee to be there long enough to realize they could do what ever they want and there was NO discipline for their actions. The most pleasant part about a day working at Ingles was getting to clock out and go home.

Pros – All of the pros stem from the organization on the store level. Great managers and fun associates. Overall good place for a young person to work.

Cons – Pay wasn't great (minimum wage). Hours at times were bad and since supermarkets are open at all hours sometimes my hours were pretty terrible.

Advice to Senior Management – Good management. Keep picking great store managers and gearing the business model on the community level. It was a very good place.
