I have been working at Ingram Micro full-time for less than a year

    Pros

It's a massive organization that runs very lean. There are many strong and smart people that run the business.

    Cons

High and frequent re-orgs, RIFs, and highly political culture. Not a trust oriented environment. Everyone seems to spend alot of time on CYAs. Due to the fact that the business is run on very thin margin, admin functions such as Finance, Accounting and IT also run very lean without enough process, systems or people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in people rather than only focusing on looking good to Wall Street analysts. It's the people that make the company.

I worked at Ingram Micro full-time

    Pros

Great teamwork among staff to complete goals.

    Cons

The compensation and benefits for the upper management increases while nothing is done to help the rest of the organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's great that management has been able to increase the stock price but at what cost is it worth it to destroy company moral.

I worked at Ingram Micro full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

If you work hard you can move up in the company.

    Cons

Like in many companies its competitive which can cause cliques to form and to bump heads.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate your long tender associate they are the ones that helped build this company to become what it is today, instead of looking at new associate to take there positions for cheaper salaries.

By far the worst company I've ever worked for...and I've had more than a dozen employers throughout my career.

    Pros

Good cafeteria - sad, but that's the only positive experience here

    Cons

12 hour plus days and still can't complete the work - no demand management exists. Management is unconcerned about employees.

I worked at Ingram Micro full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people at Ingram are amazing. Everyone works long hours. They are the leading global distributor for IT products.

    Cons

Politics are ever increasing at Ingram and makes it difficult at times to get your job done. Employees really are not empowered and decisions are often delegated to VP, EVP and President.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Empower your associates. Remove as much of the politics as possible.

I have been working at Ingram Micro full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It is Never boring, there is lots to do, and it can be exciting

    Cons

    Don't promote from within
Staff reductions and firings are common
Organization changes far too much to be successful
    No work life balance
    No Employee stock program

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mgmt doesn't share the success with everyone (just directors and higher).
If you are young and need to build a resume, jump in! If you are already successful and have years of experience and knowledge, I would recommend you look elsewhere (but 3 years ago, it was just the opposite).
