Pros – Some of the best reasons to work for Inovonics actually have little to do with the work itself unfortunately. It is located in Colorado so that trumps, in my opinion, many other opportunities. The health care is also pretty decent. The people are also genuinely good as well.

Cons – Inovonics had some of the best technology in the security industry. Unfortunately, being unable to capitalize on this advantage has led to a series of strategic gaffs. This is a problem that mainly stems from the top. A cohesive strategy cannot be executed to. There is a penchant for chasing the next shiny object that presents the opportunity at incremental revenue with little regard for what is already in the pipeline. This results in a project list that stretches across several pages. Lack of focus has resulted in product delays and cost overruns.

Add in the numerous layoffs that have occurred over the past 9 months and the remaining required furlough days there is little to motivate an employee. If it wasn't for the recession those that remain would probably have walked by this point.

Advice to Senior Management – Management at Inovonics would never listen to this advice. More appropriately it should be sent to the parent corporation so that they can deal with the real problems at Inovonics, which is senior management. The shell that remains may not be worth much on the open market if you wait much longer with the current team in place.
