I have been working at Inovonics Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Inovonics is a financially secure company that values its employees. The culture is positive and everyone respects each others opinions and views. Inovonics promotes from within as well has hires leaders from the outside. Their HR department keeps managers on task for reviews which keeps morale high.

    Cons

The turnover rate is very low and there are people that have become complacent in their jobs. Specific managers could do better to motivate these individuals to maintain higher levels of productivity.

    Advice to Management

Keep the culture positive while setting specific goals so that certain individuals don't make themselve expendable.

    Pros

was a good company before it was sold

    Cons

A new executive team is in order! However it’s too late for that now. Poor work environment due to the executive teams “I am in charge and you are not attitude”. No new products are coming out. Look for yourself. This company is struggling to say the least. The engineering head needs to be replaced in order for this company to move forward with product development, innovation, new technologies and the overall improvement of the culture since he bleeds into all departments. “In one’s mind you may think you know everything and are right in all decisions but in reality it is the opposite”. The CEO tends to turn a blinds eye to obvious problems with this respect. No new products have come from this company in years which is an indication of the lack of direction or road map for this company. They seem to be bogged down in procedure and process. They are not willing to listen to the professional people they employ. Blame and accountability is alive and well here for everyone except upper management. The current CEO of the company is ill equipped to do the job at hand having no prior experience for this position which is evident by the lack of proper assessment in almost every situation that is presented. Not intervening when necessary and intervening when not necessary… I agree with the following statement: “Management at Inovonics would never listen to this advice. More appropriately it should be sent to the parent corporation so that they can deal with the real problems at Inovonics, which is senior management. The shell that remains may not be worth much on the open market if you wait much longer with the current team in place.”

  3. Helpful (1)

Could've had it all, instead is just a shell of its former self

    Pros

Some of the best reasons to work for Inovonics actually have little to do with the work itself unfortunately. It is located in Colorado so that trumps, in my opinion, many other opportunities. The health care is also pretty decent. The people are also genuinely good as well.

    Cons

Inovonics had some of the best technology in the security industry. Unfortunately, being unable to capitalize on this advantage has led to a series of strategic gaffs. This is a problem that mainly stems from the top. A cohesive strategy cannot be executed to. There is a penchant for chasing the next shiny object that presents the opportunity at incremental revenue with little regard for what is already in the pipeline. This results in a project list that stretches across several pages. Lack of focus has resulted in product delays and cost overruns. Add in the numerous layoffs that have occurred over the past 9 months and the remaining required furlough days there is little to motivate an employee. If it wasn't for the recession those that remain would probably have walked by this point.

    Advice to Management

Management at Inovonics would never listen to this advice. More appropriately it should be sent to the parent corporation so that they can deal with the real problems at Inovonics, which is senior management. The shell that remains may not be worth much on the open market if you wait much longer with the current team in place.
