    Be careful what you promise

    Analog Design Engineer (Current Employee)
    Westlake Village, CA

ProsClose to home. reasonably good pay.

ConsKeeping up with the management. Marketing seems to drive the engineering schedule and that is not a good thing. You can't realistically commit to a tape-out 6 months in advance when you know that you will run into problems.

Advice to Senior ManagementPush the customer more. Don't commit to unrealistic schedules. You know that you don't have enough horsepower to do the job, so don't over commit. Some customers aren't worth it.

    Management by stress

Senior Staff Systems Engineer - Validation (Former Employee)
    Santa Clara, CA

ProsGood stock appreciation. Good benefits including ESPP. Growing business. Nice office and working place. Lots or perks: drinks, free lunches.

ConsNot an enjoyable place to work. The management is based on pressure and stress. The manager is pushing all the time. Extreme micro management. Manager requests reporting in real time. Not efficient vision of future. Long boring meetings that sometimes last more than 2 hours.

Advice to Senior ManagementChange the slogan of the company from "Think fast" to something else. Forge a new company culture. Make a motto for the company clients rather than for the employees.

All work and no play makes jack a dull boy

    Senior Design Engineer (Current Employee)
    Westlake Village, Los Angeles, CA

Prosnew learning opportunities, 2 lunches per week :)

Consstagnant career growth especially if you are not in management
    not competitive salaries/compensation
expected to work very long hours. Sometimes even on week-ends.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou need to have a 360 degree feedback system. Feedback is always one sided during review time (top to bottom) which makes it unfair sometimes

    Risk averse, can't make decisions

    Test Engineer (Current Employee)

ProsVery smart co-workers, always something new to learn, and never any shortage of work to do. Lots of variety and basically never a dull moment.

ConsOverall it seems the culture here is very risk averse. It is extremely rare to try new methods, even if they have the promise of greater returns. It is very frustrating at times to see old methods engrained here forever with no chance of change. There is an aura of arrogance when interacting with other companies. Senior engineers and management are sometimes downright abusive to outside suppliers. There is a lack of interdepartmental coordination and team projects are very difficult to be productive or successful.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't be afraid of risk and to try new methods and ideas and foster this trait to the entire company. Follow the golden rule and treat others and suppliers like you would want to be treated. Listen to new ideas instead of just shutting them down due to perceived risk since they are new.
