Pros
They are a Large company with Opportunities for growth.
Cons
They don't ask lower level employees for their ideas. We are the ones that are growing the business. When we do speak, they don't listen.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen first.
Pros
It was a paycheck and benefits - that's all.
Cons
Too much reliance on outsourcing to India - Infosys, WiPro
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up and listen to your employees, as they are the ones who interact with the customers. And take responsibility for your actions or lack there of instead of worrying about your stock options/bonus. Why is CDW so big and profitable?? If management tried to do their employees jobs' they would fail royally, because they don't have a clue. Of course, the managers would then blame the employees for their (the managers) failures and outsource them.
Pros
Clear procedures. Great coaching. All resources are documented and available. Technical staff as well. Prospecting tools and random prospects are provided.
Cons
Sometimes the daily communication with the customer is pushed beyond the limit. Calling them for different product lines and promotions day after day can seriously damage the image of Insight, which, actually, is hard to establish in the first place.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't mistake feeling the pulse of the customer with every-day bombarding him or her with information, even if it may be helpful. Most IT decision makers simply don't have the time for that, therefore the communication maximum should be established with the customer and never be exceeded.
Pros
personal and professional relationship building ability exists here
Cons
low pay below management level
Advice to Senior Management
pay fair market value of positions
Pros
A great place to meet good people and develop solid relationships.
Cons
Lack of new technology to support the sales teams.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees and solicit feedback on a regular basis.
Pros
Great opportunity for exposure to many departments translates to professional development opportunities But like anything, you must make the most of it.
Cons
Sr. Management team seemed to focus on the short term dollar above all else. Employee moral was generally low. Perception of pay was lower than similar postions in other 'technology' companies. Internal talent was often overlooked in favor of the flavor of the week from the outside. Sentiment existed that you must leave to get ahead.
Advice to Senior Management
Make some tough decisions about proper change and have the courage to ride out the ensuing storm. In order to make fine wine, you'll have to crush some grapes (and change the laisse faire culture).
Pros
Great people in the branches, Tempe is a joke.
Cons
If you have been acquired they way of life you have know will end. They can't decide if they want to provide software/ hardware or services. They have not been able to blend the different sales teams and acquired companies together into one seamless team. They spend a ton to buy their way into new markets and then get rid of what made those companies successful to keep the old guard call center in Tempe happy. Enterprise will never buy over the phone - let them be their own group.
Benefits are horrible and pay continues to get worse each year.
Advice to Senior Management
Let the acquisitions you have made teach you something - don't try to force the SMB call center mentality on Enterprise sales teams.
Pros
Large presence with extensive product offering.
Cons
Have taken band aid approach to most of growth.
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Training is available (when your utilization is at a decent level), get to work with current technologies and organizations of various sizes.
Cons
Services are not a primary focus, the business is about selling SKU's and not tailored solutions to specific client problems.
Advice to Senior Management
There seems to be reorganizations a few times a year, seems like they are looking for something that works. Leadership has recently changed, so that may be a thing of the past.
Pros
Most of the people that work there are great to work with. Job is challenging but generally enjoyable.
Cons
Under so much financial pressure right now that there have been cuts left and right. Compensation across the board has taken a big hit and there have been numerous layoffs in the last year and a half. Some management groups make decisions that are good for themselves and not necessarily good business decisions, simply because of compensation rules.
Advice to Senior Management
New CEO appears to be driving the company in the right direction.
