Pros
- IG has made obvious efforts to retain me through project transitions with the client. (I attribute this, largely, to my senior recruiter.)
- IG is active in providing cost effective benefits solutions to its employees.
Cons
- The only disadvantage I can think of (speaking only for myself, as I am unaware of others' experience) is that the terms of my engagement are relatively short - between 3 and 6 months. My personal preference would be for a minimum 6 month engagement so I don't have to look for work so often. Having said that, this is probably a function of the end client's needs and budgetary constraints. I'm sure this is a common scenario in IT consulting, regardless of the consultant shop and not necessarily specific to Insight Global.
Advice to Senior Management
Please promote the use of on shore talent when offering solutions to customers.
Pros
I've worked for Insight Global for over 4 years and I have never thought about leaving. The job is hard but the culture, the advancement and upward mobility, and financial compensation is all worth the work you put out Monday-Friday. You love the people you work with and have the training necessary to be successful.
Cons
The job is hard. We take pride in out-working the competition and we're very selective with who we hire on top of that. It's challenging and not for someone witout a strong work ethic. You have to be an intrinsically motivated person.
Advice to Senior Management
Hold each other accountable as much as you hold us accountable. The accountability is what keeps everyone non-complacent and it helps to know everyone is held to the same standard!
Pros
- Amazing training program
-The people I work with I consider dear friends.
Cons
- It's a lot of hard work but it is great because your hard work goes towards a career and you can really reap the benefits!!!
Advice to Senior Management
- Keep up the detailed training program, I never thought I could learn so much from my first year at a new job!!!
Pros
Good salary, efficient processing of payroll and expense reports.
Cons
Client I was placed at was chaotic and dysfunctional. Insight Global was aware of this, and did not care.
Advice to Senior Management
Fire ADP for benefit managment, they suck! They can get COBRA correct to save their lives, and really don't care. Insight Global staff were helpful, but issues are still unresolved.
Pros
-The opportunity for upward mobility is unmatched by other companies in the idustry!
-A dynamic and versatile young company that has dominated the market and comtinues to impress.
-The growth Insight Global has experienced is faster and more consistent than any other large company in the industry.
-The door is open to make a name for yourself from day one.
-You are not and will never be considered disposable to this company. They provide every employee with all the resources necessary to succeed in their role--but it's not for everyone.
Cons
-Its not for people who want their success to come easily.
-You must be the best-of-the-best to rise to the top!
-Requires 110% effort each and every day.
-Requires internal employees who can multi-task, handle adversity, think on their feet, and work in a sometimes hectic environment.
Advice to Senior Management
Goals for promotion are sometimes ambiguous and not as cut and dry as hitting numbers; however, Personality and competitive drive are key factors in determining who will succeed in the role. A little more transparency in objectives for entry-level recruiters is helpful for some.
Pros
-Great ongoing communication with recruiters
-Many work opportunities at large companies at competitive rates
-Hardworking individuals, "work hard play hard"
Cons
-Need to be patient for the contract negotiations to complete
-Sometimes HR of the contracting company can be hard to deal with
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to keep up on the latest technologies and motivate your recruiters to reach out to those individuals.
Pros
- Great personalities of people you work with.
- Quick response time and lots of follow up.
- Always available when you have questions.
- The Account Manager follows up and stops by with Bagels, etc.
Cons
- Payroll does not always have answers for you!
- Benefits take 60-90 days to kick in.
- The people you are dealing with are not always the most experienced.
Advice to Senior Management
Put some time and money into looking at the infrastructure and the backbone of the company. Do what you can to have the good people you hire want to stay with the company.
Pros
Was interviewed and hired in a week
No problems with payroll
Attentive and pleasant staff keeps communication open through both email and phone
Cons
New company is experiencing some growing pains of having enough interview rooms available
Lack of benefits or paid holidays as a contractor... but that's normal
Advice to Senior Management
I have had a very positive experience with this company. From the beginning of my phone interview, my recruiter has been diligent in finding the right position for my skills. Even when I had one interview scheduled she had other job possibilities lined up.
Pros
Very attractive young staff, makes it easier to work long hours
Good Benefits
Great perks if you hit your sales goals as an account manager
Cons
The main issue is targeting talent. Many strong recruiters are often not given the chance to advance to Account Management because Senior level brass say "they dont fit what we are looking for". In IGI terms, that means you are not a Barbie Girl or not Johnny Salesman.
Oftentimes appointed office sales managers are very inexperienced, most were strong on-the-rise salespeople pushed to management with no proven leadership qualities, lacking the ability to motivate team members and get junior staff to trust upper level employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Many elements that management has been able to create in its corporate culture are unmatched. Now it is time to learn how to properly assess young talent, both at the junior and managerial levels (especially management).
Pros
Insight Global was able to find a position for me that was extremely close to my home and only one week after my previous contract position ended. The staff is very attentive and kept me informed regulary during my search. Once I started the new position, unlike most recruiters, they kept in touch with me to see if the job was going well and also gave me feedback on my performance.
Cons
Unable to get benefits for 3 months. No paid time off as a contractor which is not unusual in the contract world.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the communication and feedback once your employee has been placed in a position and also after the contract has ended. Other recruiters that I have worked with didn't even know that my contract had been extended or that my contract had ended. Once the contract ended they never responded to my emails or phone calls. I want to feel confident that the company I am working for is concerned about my needs and will always be willing to work with me to find other opportunities.
