    Pros

A fast-paced, collegial environment coupled with challenging and meaningful work makes ISG the best place I've worked period. There is an amazing amount of intelligence and passion in this boutique firm which make me excited to see where the journey takes us!

    Cons

Continue to be creative and innovative in finding ways to limit travel. The smart travel model works (~25% travel on average) but travel can get heavy at times.

    Advice to Management

The journey has only just begun, continue to build and grow in a way that provides opportunity to the endless intellectual curiosity available at the firm.

    Pros

Great culture - everyone works hard, and sometimes the hours are long, but the company also emphasizes the importance of having fun and work/life balance
Recruiting - strong emphasis on hiring people who are both qualified and a good fit for the culture. There are a lot of really smart people, though, surprisingly, egos rarely get in the way
Career growth and advancement - ISG expects people to advance within the organization and provides plenty of opportunities to tackle new challenges or take on more responsibility. They also have a well defined and consistently followed career development program that every employee takes part in

    Cons

Because the company will not sacrifice its recruiting standards, they can't simply add more people when the workload gets really heavy. As a result, there are periods when everyone has to work late. Because of the great atmosphere, however, and management's genuine concern for the employees, it's bearable.

    Advice to Management

Stay focused on hiring the right people for the culture

    Pros

    - Overall a young, fun, collegial, interesting, and very smart group of people
    - They staunchly protect the company's great culture by having an extremely selective hiring process. This is true for new analysts and upper management alike
    - Young analysts get opportunities to take on responibility quickly
    - Smart travel model means that you get to be a consultant and maintain work/life balance
    - Great client list

ISG is is competitive with the big consulting firms in talent and intellect. The culture and workplae environment are true differentiators in my mind.

    Cons

Growing pains are to be expected with a boutique firm growing quikcly, but ISG seems get on issues before hey cause problems. 401(k) contribution could be stronger.

    Pros

    - Intelligent Travel Policy - unlike some consulting firms that will camp out onsite at clients and bill expenses needlessly, ISG operates under an intelligent travel policy where they are only onsite for critical client activities. This allows their employees to have a better work/life balance and their client's also appreciate not having a huge expense/travel cost burden.
    - Exclusive Focus - ISG's focus on procurement and strategic sourcing brings their clients greater value at typically a less expensive cost than more general larger consulting firms.
    - Measureable results/impact - ISG's results are measured by hard-dollar savings, providing it's clients with results on EBITDA impact that can be directly attributed to ISG's activities.
    - Low turnover - ISG has lost fewer than 5 employees to other positions since 2002, which means that knowledge transfer and project experience amongst it's staff remain in-house.
    - Culture that spawns creativity and innovation - ISG is continually looking at innovative means to drive cost reduction and create value for it's client's. All employees have an opportunity to drive innovation and creative solutions.
    - Great work/life balance for a high performing consulting firm
    - Ability to participate in one of the most interesting non-profits imaginable, Witness to War (www.witnesstowar.org), which was founded by ISG's President, Tom Beaty.
    - High growth company - increase in revenues and employee size by almost 40% each of the last 5 years.

    Cons

    - Minimal investments historically in marketing and PR
    - Minimal investment in administrative personnel
    - Typical delivery and sales roles involve responsibilities outside of what is just on the job description due to being in a high-grown environment.
