I worked at Insurance Offices of America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They can quote anything. Lots of markets but still not worth working for. They have a ton of turn over and will go NO WHERE fast.

    Cons

There is ZERO communication with management and staff. It is honestly a joke. They claim to be ethical but they are anything but. They FORCE you to rent one of their shitty laptops @ $300/mo even if you have your own and it's nicer. There is no proprietary equipment here. It is all software based and something you can do on your home computer just fine.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a clue. You guys are so lost and out of touch with what people actually want.

    Pros

If you are a producer and have a decent sized book of business, this could be a good place to go as they have a lot of markets.

    Cons

They've gotten too big for their own good. They nickel and dime the producers to death with various expenses. (Rent, WC, E & O, lease your own computer, Zywave, etc) It will easily cost you $800+ a month to work there. Watch out for the board. They like to put on a face of "Doing the right thing" and that they have a strong set of values, but they're the biggest group of hypocrites in the industry. Probably the most unethical company that I have ever worked for.

Cool place to work but you have to know your stuff to survive

I have been working at Insurance Offices of America

    Pros

You work completely on your own, you can not fake that you know your stuff here as the brokers are completely out of the office everyday and you are there to service and take care of the clients on your own. Though if an emergency arises you do have access to the broker that you work for via phone. Your work speaks for in a big way. Also the company is fairly young so is the management as they really don't have management experiences. So you will encounter bumps in the road but if your looking for a place where no one is on you 24/7 then this is the place for you.

    Cons

Management is out of state and sometimes things are not handled in a the proper manner

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implementing managers with true management experience would eliminate alot of bumps in the road.
