    Pros

Management will do what they can to assist staff in any way possible. Lots of focus on engagement, and positive environment. Work life balance in effect and easy to get approval for. Fantastic Benefits, and average salary ranges.

    Cons

Employees hyper focused on occasion on negatives, not understanding these trials and tribulations are inherent with the positions they are in, prefer to bring problems to light, rather than solutions.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, your efforts are obvious, and intentions are on the right track.

    Advice to Management

Your adjusters work hard and you are losing them because the workload is too high. Hire more people.

    Pros

Good organization for training and development Progressive company trying to focus more on improving employee engagement with initiatives like cross-departmental information sessions to encourage lateral movement, diversity days

    Cons

It is very difficult to move from the Intermediate to Senior Underwriter level, it basically rarely happens and there are many Intermediate Underwriters who feel stuck and have to look elsewhere if they desire progress

    Advice to Management

Take care of people who have been in the company longer Promote from within

I have been working at Intact Insurance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Face paced environment where employees have decent benefits, flexible work options, guilt-free vacation time, and it is constantly evolving. Some employees are positive and upbeat, and depending on your manager, your manager can rock on in a good way :)

    Cons

Unstructured hiring wages leave many employees disgruntled - we are paid $10-$30,000 less than the industry standard, yet are in the top 3 insurance companies. How is this possible? Some employees are always grumpy, and can bring your whole area down - it's hard to stay upbeat and positive, but I feel this is the way with many organizations. My previous employer had upbeat and positive staff, so moving over to Intact (ING at the time) was a culture shock (aka negative energy). There is little room to evolve into different positions in the Ottawa location - that all happens in the Toronto office.

    Advice to Management

Certain managers don't get along and it's like being in high school watching them bicker and make snide remarks. Grow up! Another manager also is known to pit employees against each other (tattle tale in front of each other) and also told another past employee they were too happy and positive. Seriously?

I worked at Intact Insurance full-time

    Pros

Excellent benefits, bonus, yearly raises, staff functions. Staff and managers are professional and courteous to each other.

    Cons

Poor communication from some managers. Staff are a bit cliquey. They don't like you to complain about the heavy workload. Some managers are lazy and won't do anything for you but continue to still work there.

    Advice to Management

Take anonymous comments from employees about their managers.
